I believe that there is still a huge market for Turn Based role playing games. There is always a way to enhance an apparent stale form of combat. Recently, Radiant Historia has proven this by adding a positioning mechanic and of course the narrative was very strong. It was very well received. And I think Lost Odyssey landed over 800,000 sales and I haven't heard anything recently about Mistwalker doing anything similar. I don't think the answer to fixing combat is sticking a pair of hands in my face holding weapons like the Elder Scrolls series. It's neat and fun, but in no way embodies the only acceptable combat style.
