This movie was everything I wanted it to be.

The way Chuck Norris was handled in this movie was perfect.

Even better? Van Damme's character is named either
    Vill-on or Vill-aine
    .

this movie stops pretending to have a plot the second chuck norris shows up, then they just use flimsy excuses for the next absurd action sequence

the action is bigger, and there's more of it

the character bits are actually fun and just feel like tough guys bullshitting with each other as the cast has like twenny times more chemistry and jcvd is just insane and parodying himself

All I ever wanted was the first movie but more guns, explosions, and kung fu without any dumb story shit.

I wish the Rock had been in this movie, I feel like he would have put it over the top.

And the "I'm two days from retiring" callback was fantastic.

    oh there's dumb story bullshit

but all of the plot points are taken from the big book of action movie cliches

to the point where the characters even notice it

and holy shit the self-referrential one-liners

and oh my god I cannot stress enough how amazing dolph is in this movie

and no, man and knife is not the best one-liner in the movie

Expendables 2 was so awesome. Everything great about the first and the plot is stripped down to nicely move it from action scene to action scene. Lots O' Spoilers inside the tag.
Jet Li's fight scene was so awesome right at the beginning. I don't know why he couldn't film more for the movie, but it gives a nice sense of suspense to everything. There's always the feeling that he's going to show up and save the day, especially before they kill Billy. I kept expecting Li to show up. Kind of disappointed we didn't get a fight between Li and JCVD, but the Stallone/JCVD fight was awesome.

The scene where Stallone, Arnold, and Willis shoot through the glass and walk down the hallway side by side was so fucking awesome to see. Willis and Arnold driving the tiny car and grabbing guns off the ground while shooting was phenomenal as well.

Dolph Lundgren definitely got a big boost in his screen time and it was so great. Somebody made fun of the "I'd die for some Chinese" line earlier, but since everybody in the scene treats it like an awful joke it works.

Killing Billy off at the beginning surprised me even though he said and did so many things that should have told me he was going to end up dead.

That list for lady action stars is pretty awful. It does list a lot of the people who should be in there, but so many who shouldn't.

Eliza Dushku always made the action look better in Buffy than Sarah Michelle Gellar did and she isn't really an action movie type person. I wouldn't want Carrie Fisher or Uma Thurman in that either.

    Linda Hamilton as Stallone
    Sigourney Weaver as Willis
    Lucy Lawless as Arnold
    Milla Jovovich as Statham
    Michelle Rodriguez as Crews
    Gina Carano as Couture
    Summer Glau as Jet Li
    Lucy Liu as Lundgren

I'm sorry TLB I don't know who Cynthia Rothrock is either.

Maybe, but definitely Yeoh should be added. When I was looking at that list, I thought it was awfully slim on Asian actresses, and their martial arts, and then I made my list and forgot them too.

Maybe add Yvonne Strahovski as well.

Expendables 3 should have Jackie Chan as the villain since he's said in so many interiews how he's wished he was cast as a villain in something

I don't know if 20 years counts as several

As for silver hawk 8 years is a while ago, and it's not a super hero I know of, so it doesn't count.
