There's a storm coming. You and your friends better batten down the hatches.

IsaacUpdate.jpg

A hurricane is coming to eat some of us. This is not ideal. Projected to start swiping at south Florida sometime Sunday as a Category 1, it looks to then proceed up the coast and make landfall on top of me as perhaps a Category 2. I have stocked up on supplies, mainly for the wife, as I will be at work the entire time (hospital emergency procedures). Whoo, overtime!

I expect to be without power for some time, which is so not fetch. Anywho, use this thread to check in on forumers and such, or just talk about natural disasters.

Track Hurricane Isaac here.

This would be my first 'hurricane' down here, if it actually stays as a hurricane. As it is, it seems to be trending west enough where inland florida will only get some wind/rain

I've been in Florida all my life, so pretty used to the whole hurricane business every year

Though with the particular area I live in, we haven't really had one hit our area hard since 2004

I only noted the people on the map that I kinda knew where they were. If you're a FL / AL / LA person, let us know so that we can be miserable together.

My friends and I went for a double feature to see Alien vs. Predator and Collateral

We knew AvP might be bad, so we did it first so that Collateral would take the bad taste out of our mouths

After we saw AvP, the theater closed thanks to the hurricanes

    Thanks, Nature

The hurricane afterparty is where it's really at. (That is, whoever's house still has power)

Does the Hurricane have Mom's knife?

Cause that would be a problem.

Hurricane pre-parties can get pretty wild.

And by wild I mean riots at supermarkets for the last bag of bread and toilet paper.

I'll never understand why someone would willingly go to florida for more than week or so it would take to visit nasa/disney/etc.
That said, stay safe gulf area forumers.

Got my metal shutters up even though it shouldn't pass by my place. I'd have 'em up all year if I could but the rest of my family would get a bit tetchy with no sun shining in the house.

I lived in southwest Florida so Andrew really wasn't anything where I was.

  • OwenashiOwenashi Registered User regular
It was nice not to go to school for a week or two after Andrew hit. Not so much the loss of power for around about that same time.
