Sacrilege? SMITE be. (Loki appears. Tom Hiddleston conspicuously absent.)

SMITE is a third person MOBA game (think DOTA or LoL) currently in closed beta by Hi-Rez Studios (Tribes and Global Agenda).

There are two main hooks that make this game different from other games of its ilk.

The first is the mechanical hook of its third person perspective, direct character control gameplay and its emphasis on skillshots over things that lock on.

The second is the cosmetic hook of drawing all of its characters from various mythological and religious pantheons.

Personally, I'm really fond of its systems in place to ease new players in, and to give casual players easier options, and its reduced emphasis on last hitting (which means you can spend more time actually killing things rather than having to wait for the right moment to kill things).

The game is in a closed beta right now, but getting a key is incredibly easy. Anyone already in the beta can just enter your email adress into the "send beta key" feature in-game to get you one, and there doesn't seem to be a limit to how many of these a player can give out.
