I get home in about an hour then I'm going to hopefully start on Halo 4, Gamertag: Bogestrom .
Also, I've read Greg Bear's first 2 books in The Forerunner Saga and I recommend them for lots of insight into the mythos.

It's kinda like the Terminals in Halo 3. The added background information and fleshed out the story, but weren't totally necessary to understand the overall plot.
