going out to brunch is very ny i feel
girls especially love to do that
This is so wrong I can't even express how wrong it is. First I won't say that brunch can be laid claim to by any one group or region, but it's no more a NY thing than taking a dump. Brunch in the South is Eggs Benedict and one too many Mimosas and is the specialty of any genteel southern family.

no not the meal i mean
like
the act of going to out to brunch as like a THING
Yes
I mean that too.
Any southern comfort restaurant worth its salt does brunch
Shrimp and Grits, Eggs Benedict, mimosas flow freely.
i can't really find it in myself to care about pop music, in the sense that i get angry at it for being too overwrought or inauthentic or emotionally manipulative or whatever. those sorts of criticisms (excepting the first, i suppose) seem very much like guesswork passed off as fact.

I listen to the radio because my car only has a CD player. And I don't own any CDs.
Weirdly I have one cd in my car because I haven't ripped it to mp3 yet and it's actually some kind of weird transfer of a cassette that my grandma gave me. I actually really should rip it because I haven't been able to find most of their stuff anywhere else.
i mean i try not to be too down on kids in general, they're got a lot of growing up to do and i had my emo bands when i grew up. linkin park for example, though you could even get "link park esque" songs from other bands, like Adam's Song, of Blink 182 and even Offspring had The Kids Aren't Alright, which was also a downer.
but that video just feels so much more histrionic in comparison, and everyone finds it so relatable. look at those thumbs up. what is school even like these days
A friend fell in love with that band and was playing songs for me and kept asking "Who do they sound like to you"?!?!
Well.. I answered honestly, the chorus from We Are Young sound like a chorus that would be sung by the Offspring to me. They used that same high tone multivoice shout chorus sort of thing in my opinion. She got really mad at me and stated that no they sounded like Queen. Cause the singer learned to sing from listening to queen albums! None of that sounded like Fat Bottom Girls or One Vision to me.
It kinda sound like the Beelzebub verse from bohemian rhapsody and the synth from one vision and I did think the singer from some nights sounded like Mika who sounds like Freddie but the it doesn't sound like Queens overall tone.

an album if I remember correctly, you were very despondent about

whatever your opinion of Fun., I feel like the Queen comparisons are inevitable. They don't have to compare favorably to Queen but I thought it was pretty obvious who they really wanted to be. I guess...not so much
You could be anywhere

my problem is that i listen to a lot of good music so when i hear bad music it makes me very angry
I'm gonna go ahead and say MIKA already did the Queen thing better (c'mon, technically gifted ambiguously-sexually-oriented-who-obviously-turned-out-to-be gay singer)

queen is more about theatrics and bravado than ambiguity. I mean
that's missing the cart for the horse of the spectacle that is queen
it's like learning that hitler and stalin are the same dude
I was just about to post that I feel like a guy in the early 40s who was like "wait wait.. The Poland thing, the bombing England, the jew thing ... That was all by the same guy?"
THAT'S RIGHT I JUST GODWINNED A HARMLESS POP BAND DEAL WITH IT

MIKA's got theatrics and bravado down pat pretty well though.

that's not what i'm saying. i have often said i like plenty of pop music. the sentence you're referencing had a comma and another clause.
So I just finished buying a bunch of snacks for our workcenter's snack area. While I was unpacking them and putting the snacks in the right place, asshole coworker kicks the box with 45 bags of chips in them, then kicks it again. When I told him to stop, he said the chips wouldn't break because they were in a (thin, flimsy) cardboard box. My coworker is an asshole and an idiot.

All I see is a preview screen of some lady hiking up her skirt which screams 'not bad' to me.

Actually I'd equate mcr to this generations' Pink Floyd. Danger Days is totally the modern version of The Wall.
