Just curious if we could get some information about Geth. Not how it works or anything, I'd just like to know what all it does.
For example, the force levels that I see set in threads. What do they actually mean? Do infractions carry higher point penalties when Geth has been set to barbecue? Or is this simply the mods way of telling a thread to chill out and/or back off a line of discussion?
I've also noticed recently in the "agree/awesome" bar at the bottom of some posts that Geth shows up with a new icon "Tracking", is there something in these posts that got them flagged for review or is this part of some new game that Geth plays after getting bored with his Robot Santa stalker thing?
Basically, I'd like to know how not to piss off our resident robot overlord.

Well one Geth related feature is that the post box now has the information regarding Geth's "threat" setting and a list of users currently not allowed to post in a thread. If this includes the recently discovered banned phrases function, that's pretty damn cool.
But I'm with see317 on the threat level thing. No idea what that has ever meant.
Most of the Geth's functions are kept secret, but I'll let you in on a few. Minor and Major threat levels are 2 and 3 point infractions respectively. Lethal is a ban. Low or stun is a warning. Furthemore, Geth's [REDACTED] will delete your entire [REDACTED] history if you ever say [REDACTED]. If Geth begins to agree or awesome your posts, then you are being watched for [REDACTED]. The best way to stop this is to send a [REDACTED] to a moderator.
A wanted user is a special [REDACTED] feature of Geth's. It means that you have done something wrong, and Geth is collecting votes to see if you are guilty or innocent of wrongdoing. Should the vote tally end as [REDACTED], then you will be assigned a [REDACTED] infraction for [REDACTED]. To avoid being wanted, simply do not mention the following: [REDACTED], [REDACTED], TVTropes, [REDACTED], Hitman 2, [REDACTED], [REDACTED], and emoticons.
Geth's job is to simple make moderation a bit easier, and for Vanilla to [REDACTED][REDACTED] about [REDACTED] behaviors. If you ever have any issues with Geth, please PM [REDACTED].

It does include the forbidden phrases as well, check out the webcomic thread in SE++. Crwth is able to post, but if you post his name (even as a quote) you eat an infraction.
Kind of tempted to do a paint over of Voldemort to look vaguely like Crwth's avatar, but I'm pretty lazy.

Wow, that bit about Geth's agreeing / awesoming of posts is not what I was expecting that to mean at all.
I had thought Geth was simply the natural evolution of the santa robot.
But Santa Robot needed commanding.
Geth is sentient. I had initially thought I got an awesome/agree from it because I simply mentioned Geth in a post. But then the entirety of the mass effect threads would be awesomed/agree'd with.

No, it doesn't work, but it makes you worry about the next bit a wee less.

I assume that means that mods can control Geth without actually needing a visible post in the thread.
The question then becomes whether there's some sort of interface to directly control Geth or whether mods have the ability to create posts that normal users can't see. Both seem possible.

Clearly those issues we had a year or two back weren't actually a server failing.
It was Geth coming to power. Vanilla isn't a shackle on it as I'd originally presumed, it is the manner Geth has chosen to allow us to continue to post; because they allow it, and we will be banned because they demand it.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
This forum is actually a reenactment of I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream.
Well, that's both horrifying and delightful.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor My new novel: Maledictions: The Offering. Now in Paperback!
I have two "Awesome". One for basically confirming that a "Best Case Scenario" was indeed how this works, and another because apparently Geth approves of me being Inception:ed by Bayonetta.
And it's not like Geth is casually browsing the forums, and slowly contemplate what's being said ... The second I posted there it was. An "Awesome" from Geth.
Not only does Geth know all, but Geth knows all the second it happens, and immediately know what to think of it, and if any action needs to be taken.
I guess that's supposed to be a pretty nifty thing ... but I know there's nothing cool about Skynet 2.0

Is there anywhere where stuff like this is actually listed? I understand that people enjoy in-jokes but it would be pretty annoying to get jailed for not knowing an in-joke specific to a certain thread or subforum.

Now, I know it's definitely more sinister.

And then jdarksun was the Geth.

FALSE. In the beginning was the Geth, and the Geth was with Mods, then the Geth was Mods.
No, Geth was there.
In fact, given that it was the [REDACTED] that caused it, you could say that Geth's first sentient act was a massive disagree button.
So are you saying @jdarksun was sent back in time to terminate the AI before it became a problem?
Now I'm frightened.

Step one in the inevitable creation of Skynet.
