Couldn't resist, I'm in. If this game is anything like LoL, it's going to be all about the skins. Those deadpool skins are amazing, plus with the $80 I can buy what I want as it comes out. Bang bang bang!!!

    Purchase your Founders Pack Today
Almost every Starter Pack and Premium Pack is eligible for this offer. (The Ultimate Pack is not, as you already get all the costumes and both heroes as part of your pack!) Please note, Cyclops and Jean Grey will be added to your Founders Pack when it is granted at the beginning of Early Game Access (when the game is released), and will not be seen in your cart during checkout - this is normal!

Please note, if you choose to buy either the Cyclops or the Jean Grey Starter Pack during today's promotion, you will only receive either Jean Grey or Cyclops as a bonus (whichever one you did not purchase). This offer also does not apply to the Uncanny X-Men or Marvel NOW! Premium Packs (as they both already contain Jean Grey and Cyclops).

Don't have much to add from this week's play sessions as they have a crippling server bug they are trying to fix. I did grab a couple screens from the store, so you can get a general idea what the pricing is like (definitely subject to change before launch). This is assuming 1000 points = $10.

Daredevil is one of the 5 starter heroes, which is why he is cheaper. They have a reduced price for the 4 you dont pick.

Looks like they are pricing around the same as League of Legends in point costs. Im guessing the Enhanced Skins like pirate deadpool and symbiote spidey would be in the 1500+ range.

How have they been doing beta invites does anyone know? Is it pretty random or have they slowly been ramping it up with waves of keys ala blizzard? Just kinda curious, I am very hyped for this game. I've actually thought about going on twitter just to follow them.

The mini map looks different in that screenshot, but that's all I noticed. Have they put the full screen map in yet? Also, how is the difficulty? It looks like there's a lot going on in videos, but I rarely see people losing a lot of health, and staying that way, or dying. This game looks to have fixed one of my major problems with MuA, never enough enemies in screen. But one worry is even the world event bosses, while taking a lot of hits to kill, it all seemed pretty easy.

They announced in the beta forums that another huge wave of invites is going out this week and they will ramp up the invites over the coming weeks. Right now still very limited play times and things are super buggy as they deal with server issues so not really missing much.

You hit tab and it brings up bigger map.

With the last patch it is way too easy. I think they ramped up XP gain to get testers up to higher levels to try out the new chapter they added. They're constantly turning the difficulty up and down trying to tune it so it should be much better by open beta/launch. I have to admit it is fun wading into a group of 20+ enemies and wrecking face. The raid bosses so far end up like any outdoor public raid, as in you get too many players on them and you just spam them to death. Most of them do move around quite a bit and some summon adds, throw AEs, stuns, etc., but right now not very challenging if there are more than half a dozen people fighting.

But when they cranked up the spawn rates last week as they were trying to tune them, that was a challenge and I died to packs of dozens of Sentinels many, many times that day. It was glorious.

Thx for all the info. I've watched just about every YouTube video out there, which is why I asked about the map. In all the videos I saw, tab for map hasn't been implemented. The developers even mentioned it :D. I'm guessing its pretty standard stuff?

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for a beta invite. I was very tempted for the $200 pack for the 5% increased everything and beta access. In the end I just couldn't justify it, or even spring for it if I could justify it, in my head.

I love MuA, I love xmen legends, I loved diablo 1 and 2 and really liked 3 even though I stopped playing it way sooner than I thought. ( I was hooked, PC died, when got a new PC played LoL and not D3 cause most the people I knew quit. Damn fine game, wish I would have played it more if for nothing else, RMAH. Fuck gold farmers, screw USA congress for outlawing online poker, I found a new form of online revenue! :). ) so I really think I'm going to love this. But me dropping $60 on a game I know nothing about, is pretty much the norm. Any time you buy a game it's a gamble honestly. But $200 is too much for me personally, even though if its good and succeeds you easily get the value. I wish I could do it, I'm gonna check the lotto tickets in my wallet heh, but I just can't pull the trigger.

    Anyways, back to replying.

Glad to hear that about the difficulty. It's funny, I remember people bitching about the hardest difficulty in D3, yet I watched videos of Athene(?) who beat the highest difficulty in 4 days, begging for something next to impossible. They promised to make him happy. (And honestly I think the RMAH is what drived many people to be disappointed by not being able to farm but totally different discussion. Glad there's no RMAH)

Now I don't want impossible difficulty, but I do want a challenge. As I said, in MuA my biggest gripe was me and my friends had to fight over enemies to beat up! It's awesome to feel like a super hero, but its another to make it so everyone mashes an ability and the whole screen is cleared. I want my screen filled with enemies, I want super Heroes to be getting beat up, wolverine has to let himself heal while the hulk smashes
In, then while hulk is getting mad (because really, hitting him doesn't do much) the thing pops in, only to he slapped aside as the boss rushes at iron man and slaps him out of orbit. In rushes hero B and C, but banding together, you win, blah blah blah. I think you get my point :)

Can't believe I just typed this much on an iPhone about this game. So hyped.

It's pretty common to get into fights with 20+ mobs. The bodies despawn pretty quickly so hard to get a good screenshot of the carnage. It has ragdoll so you can send enemies flying.

All four of those in the pic are exclusive to the Ultimate Pack. People in forums are campaigning to not let those ever be sold on the in-game store. The devs have said though that there will be costumes that drop in-game that you can't buy in the store or get in founder's packs.

Making IM3 armor exclusive is less of a problem with me than Symbiote Spidey. The black costume is a classic, wether it's an alien being or just a plain recolor of his normal costume.

If they do this they might as well make the Extremis armor exclusive and add some special effects like a "store in body" animation or something.

But isn't the whole point of the reward for a founders program to provide them with something exclusive and iconic to the IP or game in general? How is this different than a super exclusive CE? It is a rad costume, and I almost considered shelling out $200. But that's the point.

I do think eventually it'll be available in game as the rarest of drops though.

You get them, it's just telling you which costumes of theirs you're getting along with it.

yeah, the limited enhanced version is an exclusive, because it will have special sounds, animation, that kinda thing. That doesnt stop them from releasing a non-enhanced black costume later though.

I know personally I looked at the costumes available in the preorder packs and that's how I made my decision (I got all the deadpoolz) . I wanted mr fix it hulk, and didn't personally like any of the costumes in the $20 packs.

I dunno, the same thing has been happening in LoL. There's an Annie skin exclusive to a big bundle, that just had the artwork redone. It's always been exclusive but now there's a battle if "I want to buy it" vs "it should stay exclusive!" There's no way to please everybody.

Uhm, it's never being exclusive at all, seriously.

The reason it costs more relatively than other skins is because it's part of a bundle and League's bundle system doesn't discount based on owning parts of the bundle.

Anyway, I don't like the Founders pack skins being exclusive because the difference between that and a CE for a standard game is that if I want to get a CE for a game a year after enjoying it for a long time I can.

I don't like time limited skins because I don't feel there should be a reward for playing a game at a given time.

Isn't it exclusively part of that bundle? And with the rework people were crying that it should be sold stand alone, and other wanting it to stay part if the bundle.

I guess you're right about the physical CE's. I have a shrink wrapped Burning Crusade CE that I'm going to sell for Texas soon. But if I had opened it, ya you could get the physical stuff, but the in game content code would have already been used. Correct me if I'm wrong, there's no way to get that pet unless you got the CEright? And aren't pets being used for something insane right now, like Pokemon fights or something?

This game is F2P and relying in micro transactions for $. At some point, I think it's safe to say, you'll be able to buy it.

In the beta forums right now, a lot of people are complaining about the symbiote Spidey suit being exclusive.

In the FAQ, Gazillion says that while those specific outfits in the Ultimate Pack are, in fact, completely exclusive and will never be resold, they can still use the assets to sell slightly reworked versions of the outfit.

I can certainly see them selling a "Secret Wars" Spidey suit, which is identical to the symbiote suit minus the tendrils so it's a different suit, and the vast majority of the forum agrees with this speculation.

Honestly though, I bought the $200 pack, and I couldn't care less if they eventually sold the suits later on down the line (I just wanted to support this type of endeavor, get the beta access, and enjoy the permanent bonuses to xp and item find), but according to the FAQ, they will stay exclusive to the Ultimate Pack.

Some people just want to have that shiny special item that proves to everyone else that they are a special snowflake and are better than everyone else, kinda like when all the WoW hardcore PVPers/raiders whine when Blizzard makes their hard-earned special loincloth or mount available to the unwashed masses in more alternative/casual/group finder ways. Whoop whoop, I am wealthy/stupid/irresponsible enough to spend the equivalent of 4 AAA games on a game that's not even released yet for a special outfit that took absolutely no skill whatsoever to acquire! Worship me and so forth!

I'll tell you what though: In this last round of beta I've been playing Mr. Fixit Hulk, and that's the suit I'll be playing with when this game goes live. A dapper mob enforcer that can launch himself like a meteor into a crowd of guys for mass insta-kills? Yes please.

Also, sorry for the simile if you live in the Ural mountains.

    Speaking of the Ultimate Pack...

Basically they're giving out one of the Ultimate Packs every day until the 27th of February, to people who register between now and then and to people who have already registered.

So they're really promoting the hell out of this.

  • Undead ScottsmanUndead Scottsman Cybertronian Paranormal Eliminator Registered User regular
The issue I have with those exclusive skins is that if I wanted one of them, it's an instant $200 pricetag. Even if I don't want anything else, I still gotta pay $200.

    That's dumb as balls, IMO.

Well, is it worth $200 for an outfit to you?

It seems natural to me that a company that is giving their game away for free would put their most desirable outfits in their most expensive ticket item. They gotta make money somehow.

Think about this though: it's an isometric camera, and you're going to spend 99.9% of your time scrolled all the way out to see the bad guys and such. Is it really that big of a deal that you can't have the black suit with tendrils as opposed to getting the almost certain release of the black suit minus tendrils?

In games like this, they're going to be putting out new suits every week. That Spidey suit will be equipped for a couple of minutes until the new flavor of the day pops up, then that suit is equipped then put in the stash and replaced for the next outfit you find/buy, repeat ad nauseum.

I wouldn't really worry about it.
