I would much rather have more characters/stages for multiplayer than Subspace Emissary. I enjoyed playing it for my first time through, and even played a bit of it here and there with friends, but when it comes down to it, Smash Bros. is always more about playing with (and against) friends than going through a story-mode. For instance, I would have traded pretty much everything in Subspace Emissary for the Plusle-Minun combo to be put in the game.

I wonder how large the roster will be. Brawl's is already preposterously large, and they can't just keep expanding on every single game. I wouldn't be all that surprised if they really pruned the roster down for the next game.

I think some kind of "Story Mission/s" need to be in there, if only to contribute a sense of value. Not everyone wants to go online and fight, or even fight against people they can hook up for local play, so what are they supposed to do with the game if the competitive aspect of it doesn't appeal to them? To broaden appeal and give the game some single player longevity, there has to be something more in there that entices people to keep playing, or heck, picking the game up in the first place.

It'll be a bit tricky to pull off, since if they do something that is basically SSE again, people are going to be all "But it's just SSE again!", no matter how good they are at polishing it up.

Alright and in this next scene all the animals have AIDS.

As a competitive Pokémon battler, it would have been annoying for me to see Plusle and Minun in SSBB, because they are completely unusable, especially in doubles, where their ability should have made them suited for battle, but instead it still makes them less than ideal on any kind of team. It was already annoying to learn that Jigglypuff was awful (though they made it usable in triples in BW).

Calling it now, Nintendo is doing NFC figurines and they will be the link between the Wii U and 3DS games. The characters in SSB are supposed to be figures to begin with, so it would be taking the idea to the next level. AR cards in Kid Icarus Uprising are a prelude to this.... Sakurai has a thing for these gimmicks.

I would be VERY okay with DLC characters/stages/challenges, though I don't especially enjoy the notion of physical items that bestow in-game features. Mostly because I already have a propensity to gathering absurd knick-knacks and not getting rid of them and the last thing I need is another. Though it would be REALLY awesome, I can't deny it. Just bad for me. Very bad for me.

Downloadable characters seems like a PR disaster waiting to happen to me, sadly. People, by and large, don't take kindly to that kind of content even if the basis for their indignation happens to be highly irrational.

Skins and hats, that's where it's at I think. Sell 'em cheap, sell 'em in a pack, no muss no fuss. They could maybe get away with selling some optional stages, but only if the initial selection of stages is extensive, diverse and encompasses a bunch of their franchises.

how is the smash engine kirby-lite?

Well, they were making a Kirby game out of it, if nothing else. I forget if Return to Dream Land used that same engine, though I do remember it playing a bit like Smash...

Anyway, I liked SSE-- it was fun enough, but I think it could have been better. My biggest beef was the lack of enemies and stage environments more reflective of the characters' game worlds. I mean, a few were, but mostly in ways which somehow felt more generic.

Melee's Adventure Mode, on the other hand-- that nailed it, save for the parts which were just regular battle arenas (though those still worked, too). I want a story mode which goes through stages like those.

"I think the one word I've said the most this year, by far, is 'Ow!' Not only am I getting calcific tendonitis, but they've also found what are apparently several ruptures in the muscles. My upper arm hurts, and there's this chronic dull pain in my elbow joint as well. On the lower arm, there's this feeling of fatigue around the flexor muscles that turns into pain when I use a keyboard or game controller with my fingers.

There's no instant cure for it, so all I can do is either block the pain with injections or put my arm in a cast to keep the ruptures from spreading. I was told that the important thing was to keep my arm as rested as possible. In order to get it fully healed, the only thing is to not use my right arm or hand. So not only am I using a trackball with my left hand; now I'm using it to eat, brush my teeth, wash my hair, and even drive as much as I'm able to.

As a director, I don't have much time in the weekdays to proceed along with my own work. The entire day is spent overseeing other people, holding meetings, working on other proposals, making visits elsewhere and so on. If I can get everything squared away, then I can work on my own stuff, but most of the time there's just an overwhelming lack of time. Often I go in on my off-days to catch up on my own work, but with my body going on me like this, I have to cut these extra days out of my schedule and even with that I can't use my right arm very much to control things. If this disorder lingers, or if it never gets fixed, there's no telling what impact that would have on the project.

I've had to control two characters at once in a lot of game projects up to now, so as long as I keep it to simple moves, this works well enough. It doesn't go that easy with the Nintendo 3DS version, though, and the debug camera is pretty hard to control. Still, now I realize how important it is to have your health. I'm glad I'm still in good enough shape to work."

I think using skylander type figures as dlc is la grand idea though I would like it limited to stages and assist trophies. Character selection should not be locked out in a fighting game.

Personally, I would love to see an inclusion of King K. Roc from Donkey Kong Country. Possibly even Ryu Hiyabusa from the Ninja Gaiden series, since the original three were released on the NES. I do not see why Team Ninja would not have that included. But I know that it is probably wishful thinking.

It would be pretty shit if the disease cost him his future in the industry. He's been around for a while, but if he had to retire in the near future I think he would leave a lot of work undone.
