I have no crafting ability but would I be able to purchase crafted items? I hope I'm not being a douche in asking a silly question haha

Unless one is a registered vendor at PAX, it is not permitted to sell one's wares at PAX.

I'd love to come to this with whatever knitting makes it into the travel bag!

Okay guys if anyone sees someone carrying around this bag, stop me and say hi! I should be carrying it all weekend (and probably making squares 24/7).

    Submitted...

I'm happy to come for this. I know another non-forumer I'll pass info along to as well. My attendance is dependent on my [E] schedule, which I do not yet have.

Still PAXing strong. [E] for lyfe. ELand forever.

So the PPL is scheduling their meetups for 4pm to work around handheld's schedule if that helps.

Oh, damn. :( The crafting panel is on at the same time as the BioShock: Irrational panel. Looks like I won't be going to the panel, but I will absolutely try and make it after!

Why do they make us choose!?

So excited for this, I honestly could use some knitting tips, been working on a 4th Doctor-esque scarf (I say this because some of my color choices aren't quite right but whatever) and I get discouraged because I knit so much slower than I crochet. I'll definitely be bringing a knitting and crocheting project with me. Maybe I'll start a stuffed Quaggan... or something I actually have a pattern for.. *Squee!*

ooooh, I see...well that's too bad but I guess it makes things a little simpler for the organizers seeing they'd probably have to obtain additional permits or something similar right?

No not exactly. There are vendors at PAX, but they have to apply to register as an exhibitor in order to do so. Basically if you are using PAX as a method of doing business, you need to pay PAX for the privilege to do so.

@ZombiRific If it's any consolation, I've been working on a Doctor Whoish scarf for the last two PAXes. I made a lot of progress during a winter vacation this year, but unless my schedule changes dramatically over the next couple of weeks, I will STILL be trying to finish it this year! I am the World's Slowest Knitter, for serious.

Soooo now that the schedule is up, since we're trying to do this after the crafting panel with enough buffer time for people to get from the panel (which ends at 1:00PM Saturday) to our chosen spot, maybe we should shoot for 1:30? And do we want to try and snag a table around the tabletop area or go to handheld? We would potentially be bumping up against the Sonic tournament in handheld, since that's also at 1:30. It sounds like we'd still fit in there fine, though, since we'll be done by the time the Pokemon folks start rolling in around 4:00.

I was also thinking 1:30 was good. I would think handheld would be best, but I don't know. I don't want to get in the way of any handheld events. Do we want to go ahead and say handheld with Tabletop as the backup?

Yeah, I would definitely lean toward HH at this point, especially since it looks like Tabletop might be a little smaller this year because of the bigger Expo Hall. I imagine table real estate may be a little tougher to come by. HH looks to be the same as years past. We can always assemble and migrate if needed!

Yay! My sister and I will be there, and I will bring crafty paper dolls to swap. (let me know if anyone is interested in something particular)

I would definitely love to attend this if I'm not in the middle of a panel, board game, or lunch at the time. Not sure what i'll bring for a project - maybe the space invaders scarf I was working on last year at PAX. Or maybe something smaller. I love meeting other geeky crafty people!

Nice bag! I assume you made it yourself? & what do you mean by "making squares"?

This is probably a silly thing to post but would anyone be interested in trading crafted items for vinyl (Hard Dance & UK Hardcore) or something else? I'm grasping at straws 'cause I really have nothing to trade but I would love some toasty socks or a tasty beanie

I do like the handheld lounges, I tend to crochet in crazy weird positions anyway

Also I really hope @punzie makes it

ALSO ALSO how did I not know there was a crafting panel wtffff

Thanks Sheri :) I'll probably hang around near the theater to answer some questions after the panel but maybe I'll just encourage people to follow me over there.
My panel does abut the make-a-strip so I'll be honored by every body who decides they'd rather see us than Gabe and Tycho.

Sigh... those beanbags. There is no graceful way to get out of one. I always look like a turtle stuck on its back...

I'm going to try to come by, are any of you on Ravelry? Maybe we could crash the Penny Arcade group over there (which is pretty dead at the moment)

I'm a fairly advanced knitter, and work part time in a local yarn store.

  • Menolly07Menolly07 Registered User regular
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I got my [E] schedule and am wang (8p-3a) in ELand so can make this AND I can make your panel, @punzie!

Yay! I'm in Boston! Unfortunately, while unpacking I realized I left my craft bag at home. Any advice on where I can go but some yarn and hooks here?

I plan on skipping out around 11:30 to head over!

Also no, I did not make the above bag, it is made by YarnPop!

Also Kelly (above) has already spotted it and said hi!
