The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
What do you guys think? I know there are a few bugs already being queued for the next iteration (such as the additional product images opening in a separate window, some visual IE bugs, etc...), but for the most part we're pretty happy with it.
Just from an aesthetics standpoint, I am not fond of the white background for all the products. Something like the PA's main page colors seems much more comfortable.
Then again, considering that it's still under construction(?) it looks mighty fine.
Functionality and browsing seems to be pretty good right now, but are you going to be updating the overall look to integrate it better with the main site? White background and seperations seem really off and kinda jarring.
Do thing you could change the Canadian shipping to reflect who it ships through. If it's UPS ground, then I'll still not really be able to order much (do to their high brokerage fees).
I added just a poster for shipping to Canada and ended up with $14.99 for the poster and $13.95 for shipping here. The $14 USD I don't mind so much as long as it doesn't scale up crazy high with more items, I'll just do larger and fewer orders. I do however, hate paying $17 to UPS to carry it over the border + the taxes we end up getting charged.

We actually never tried doing darker colors for the background for our comps, as I recall. I'll have Kiko check that out during v2.0.
As far as why the dark grey up top, every PA site has the same top console element to it, just with a slight color variation. (Child's Play, PAX, PA Main Site... and now the store!)
Figure poll whahuzit?

Whole zoom-ins on some of the merchandise would be nice, like with the posters and cels. I clicked on the image of one and was shocked it did not initiate the embiggening process.

It's super vague. I remember a poll asking what figures you'd like to see made. The only options I remember seeing were Annarchy and CTS.
Someone posted "I'm concerned about what our younger fans might do with an Annarchy figure..."
and another person posted "I'd like to see a Jesus figure with him throwing up the horns."
That's all I remember, except that the forums were completely different. You know how the forums were before we switched to vBulletin? Yeah, it wasn't even that. It was actually kind of ugly.
Question regarding the merch site: What is the reasoning for the button designs, and also why are there 2 seperate menu bars with the sub bar being more dominant than the primary? When I first went to site, I didn't notice that the top console had different links than normal and now that I do notice it, the site doesn't feel cohesive. and the heirarchey feels backwards.
Clicking through the individual sections though, i'm liking the navigation on each seperate page. Simple and Concise.
Shipping is definitely less than Thinkgeek, but I'm not sure re: the canadian brokerage fees. I will have to double check on that.
Cheaper for sure which I'm glad for. The big hassle with brokerage is mainly UPS ground. USPS which transfers to Purolator/Canada Post at most charges about $5.. and from FEDEX ground I haven't been charged.
I shipped some books to a friend... $18 for 10 pounds, I didn't know it was so expensive!
I did do it priority though, I guess it would be cheaper if I sent it the slow way. Do they have special book rates or any deals like that? I don't see how you could afford to send books over the internet if it was always that expensive.
Polago: The button designs? Can you clarify? The two nav bars are supposed to be separated by function. One being "Operations type stuff" and the other being "Product." It was originally on the left side in a column, but that, as it turned out, looked shitty. I can understand the confusion, however.

I regret nothing
Come to think of it...I remember stumbling into the forums and seeing a poll about which characters forumers would like to see featured.
The Forums were waaaaaaay different looking
Edit: Pretty awesome, Khoo. Does this mean you won't be selling all your merch through ThinkGeek anymore?

So this is a welcomed change.
I's nice.

I wasn't a member, I just happened to see it. I remember someone posted "I'd like to see a Jesus figure, with him throwing up the horns."
How much is it? More than Thinkgeek or less, cause TG was insanely overpriced. Shipping cost more than the item.
I just have ot have that Viva Miyamoto shirt.

All kinds of hot. And I get paid tomorrow.

Guuuuuuys, Khoo's messing with my head

Super simple, almost too simple in that you have to navigate a lot of menus to get the info.
But its so clean to work with, nice and simple, completely the opposite of the thinkgeek shithole that was one giant layout mess.

The Continue button on the inventory screen counts down if you remove something.
Awesome.
USPS or Fedex... k i'll check it out!
why aren't you modeling some shirts

insert coin for the checkout is clever
