ok, no one cares about the NIT but it is delightful that kentucky went from national champs last year to getting bounced in the first round of the NITs by Robert Morris this year.
If they win it's surprising because they have no business winning after losing the guy who carried them through the end of the season, and if they lose then that's ok because we may finally fire the coach.
Think my biggest upset will be Davidson over Marquette. My highest seed going into the Sweet Sixteen would be Arizona at 6, but I really don't like it, someone needs to convice me that New Mexico is good.
they've got the 2nd best rpi in the country (mountain west is the #1 ranked conference)
they played 17 games against tournament teams, going 13-4
i currently have them in the finals but that has changed a few times in the last day

i have minnesota beating florida but i may change that
but currently they are my only double digit seed in the sweet sixteen and there are almost always at least two
Planning upsets like that seems almost as crazy to me as picking Minnesota over Florida. Sure there's often double-digit seeds in the sweet 16 but what are the odds you actually pick the right ones?
and if i was just trying to maximize my score i obviously would be picking mostly chalk
but if you're trying to win a rather large pool then you probably are going to have to pick at least one of those double digit seeds correctly, barring a completely unexpected champion (which has similarly long odds)
also my work pool scores the rounds 1-2-3-4-5-6 instead of 1-2-4-8-16-32, so the early round picks are much more important
Not having any rooting interests (and knowing little, if anything about college basketball) if kind of fun; it frees up my bracket to be based solely on "huh, I guess that would be interesting" picks.
Counterpoint: UCLA was inconsistent, then they lost the guy that carried them through the last part of the season to injury. Minnesota has a very good shot at winning that game.
Tomorrow's an airtravel day, and I'll probably miss Memphis's opening round. Assuming United has wi-fi on my flight, what app would I need to listen to round 1 tomorrow.
I made a dumb change to my bracket under the assumption that the Gophers start caring about basketball this week.
Then go back to not caring at all next week

I watched New Mexico play Wyoming in the Mountain West tourney.
New Mexico is not good. I'm pretty confident they're going home early.

Got Davidson winning as well and have California shocking the world as your standard Sweet 16 12-seed team taking out UNLV and the Orange. Like Robert Morris, the lower seeded team that gets home court (more or less) will take full advantage and come out guns blazing.

Go Australians!
But fuck Kentucky!
And this is the first year in a long time where I just closed my eyes for half my bracket and guessed wildly.

Nope
I don't get TruTv or whatever it's called. Hopefully none of the games I want to watch tomorrow or Friday are on it.

Minnesota is beating UCLA.
I....I actually made that pick in my bracket....

Worst. Fan. Ever.
It's the best of both worlds to me.

Clearly this covers all my bases, right???

I wish, I don't have a PC at home, just my phone. I think I'll survive with only 12 games a day though.

Minnesota needs to win so the world can have more of this.
not since the indiana game which is probably skewing my evaluation of them
but every time i've seen florida play this year i've been pretty underwhelmed
Fun Fact: The Gators are 26-1 in games decided by 10 points or more, and 0-6 in games decided by single digits
Their last game was a loss to a team that shot like, 32%
Then go back to not caring at all next week
literally the next game we lost to purdue at home
do not pick us to beat florida
