There is always some type of sweet swag. I will be keeping a close eye on this thread!

I think I mentioned this in a previous thread, but at the New York Comic Con this past year, swag give aways were reduced drastically. Instead of hats and t-shirt, a lot more companies scaled back to posters and hand outs. The companies that were giving was desirable items also made it much more difficut to obtain. Rather than just waiting in line and playing a demo, you'd have to wait in six lines and play six demos. Or if it was a fighting game, only the winner got any swag. It wouldn't surprise me if give aways were scaled way back at PAX this year as well.

I noticed that at NYCC as well. I feel like at NYCC it's always harder to get swag though. PAX generally makes it a bit easier to get. You will occasionally have only the winning team gets etc. It's stupid in my opinion but nothing to do about it. I think the big games will give away swag no matter what. If I remember correctly last PAX a lot of the stuff was "if you pre order you get all this stuff" in which case I'd pre-order and then cancel it after PAX if I didn't intend to buy the game

Last year I won the Star Wars Xbox set at the Joystiq podcast last year. Something tells me that I won't have the same kind of luck this year.

I haven't gotten a swag bag yet, but my skepticism appears to be mostly correct. I see lots of posters and bags, almost no shirts. Lots of booths are giving away nothing.

I don't believe Pax has ever been about a ton of swag. First off, a bunch of PAX booths are indie developers and I wouldn't expect a ton of freebies from smaller companies like that. Second, it's an event predominantly for gamers, not industry, so giving away stuff isn't really as beneficial as when your trying to woo industry interest in your product.

I don't think I've ever been blown away with Pax East gifts...nor have I ever expected to be...

Last year I got more shirts than I'd wear in a lifetime, there was definitely a lot more than there is this year. I'm not complaining, just informing those who might be wondering whats being given out

  • gamerman1227gamerman1227 Registered User regular
I dont know what Nintendo was giving out, but it was very limited, each kiosk attendant has about 10 tickets to give out, so if you arent one of the first 50 or so people, you get nothing.

It is a tame swag year. The bags are much leaner from last year. Less pins and random goodies. I got the exclusive 8 bit Street Fighter Fan Popularity Poll shirt from the World of Capcom panel. Got some posters from the Capcom booth, including a nice Darkstalkers one. Got nothing for watching the Saints Row IV presentation.

I'm tempted to preorder ACIV just for the shirt that will go up in value, if the one for III was any indidcation.

How do you get skin codes from Riot? I don't play League, but I have a friend who does and I want to get him a code.

If you go to the indiecade booth and spin the wheel, you'll win a free indie game. Go give them some support.

My son was given a real paintball gun from one booth.

Nvidia was giving out free t-shirts. Other than that I didn't really get anything other then a bunch of pins and little things. Not nearly as much swag as last year. Granted I didn't do too much today. Will have to hit up Riot, Neverwinter and indiecade tomorrow and Sunday. I plan on going to Ubi tomorrow and pre-ordering Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell and AC4 just to get the shirts. Still had a blast today even without the shwag

Bethesda was giving out free T-shirts to everyone who played Elder Scrolls Online.

Moga gave out free Pivot Controllers for android smartphones if you show them your android smartphone. Only negative is that they put a star hole punch in your Pax badge. Understandable so people do not abuse their generosity. But just stating as a warning in case anyone collects their Pax badges.

That line looked about a year long. Not as bad as TOR at least. :)

Up in the Kickstarter room, Cards Against Humanity is giving away free PAX East exclusive packs (10 cards maybe).

Those controllers are awesome. Hooked mine up as soon as I could and they definitely making mobile gaming better. If you have an Android device, go visit them. They're in the center of the expo hall, next to Turtle Beach.

Last Of Us gives out a shirt for playing their demo, and you get a 'brick' for completing the demo in the allotted 30mins. The line for that was brutal though, waited 2 hours first thing on Friday morning. Nvidia also gives out shirts, SkullCandy gives out neat little necklaces with headphone jacks, Tomb Raider has temp tattoos and if you wear one and show them between 1-4pm, you get a free hardcover comic book. LoL sometimes throws out random swag, scored a cupcake stressball thing. Tearaway gives shirts for liking them on FB or Twitter. Neverwinter has shirts and neat little bottles, but you don't get to choose, your prize is chosen at the end of the demo by the game.

But yeah, like people have said, swag seems a little lacking this year, especially compared to the haul I got last year. Way less shirt giveaways this time around.

Nintendo is giving out the same flimsy vinyl bags everyone is handing out. You have to play 2 of their games and get tickets.

Popcap had some nice stuff... I got a walnut hat from pvz a stuffed alien I believe from peggle and a Zuma frog water bottle.

WON a wireless keyboard and mouse at the Gigabyte raffle! It's nice, but I am willing to TRADE it for something, so if anyone is in need of a new keyboard and mouse, PM me and maybe we can work something out.

Also did the Gigabyte PC building contest (wanted to do Newegg but it was so crowded) - not horribly well run, but they gave me a shirt and bottle opener, etc just for participating so I can't complain.

Whoever won the Digital Storm Bolt PC at 4 PM is one lucky bastard. They look like excellent builds.

Pop cap seemed to have had the best swag from what I had gathered. They had free zombie head plushes.

What really annoys the hell out of me is riot doesn't have any new pax exclusive skins. ...they weren't even selling merch... you basically had to stand at their booth all day and have good catching skills to get anything other than a lanyard... was the biggest disappointment of my first pax.

The best you can get are pretty much the raffles. The rest of the convention makes up for it so much though.

Any idea if they'll still have any tomorrow? Sounds pretty excellent.

Got a nice hat from the hawken booth for signing up for some email stuff. My wife won a key chain from behemoth for their instagram contest. Got pins and a sticker from the bioshock panel.

I can't vouch for tomorrow, but Moga still had a line going late this afternoon. Your best bet is to line up immediately at their "safe-house" first thing tomorrow morning. They were giving out the controllers for Android tablets including Kindle as well as Android phones. They were also "zombifying" people and had a nice-looking set-up with zombies and fencing, and the folks were super-friendly....and ditto Le Goat, the controllers ARE awesome.

Mad Catz had contests starting at 5 to give away mice, keyboards etc. We didn't get anything because we arrived late into it. Razer had an impromptu giveaway in the lobby and then outdoors at 3 -- don't know if they will repeat it, but you can ask the Razer reps at the Nvidia booth (Razer did not have their own booth this year). Stuff included packs with keychains etc., hats, hoodies, and a couple of headphones and mice I think. I didn't stick around too long for it, but my children picked up a hat and a couple of small items.

NVIDIA gave away an insane amount of awesome stuff at their panel! Very exciting!

    Buttons buttons everywhere!
Popcap gave me a PvZ hat and a deck of cards.
    Nvidia - t-shirt
IGN - t-shirt for attending their panel
Anomaly - t-shirt for playing their demo
Indiegamestand - Spin a wheel get a free indie game
Square - demo 4 games + SR4 secret trailer = pin, Hitman mousepad, lanyard
Everdead - raffle chance to win a copy of their game
Intel - had snazzy light up pens for downloading their app

I've been searching for the PAX XP codes but seem to have come up short, and I swear I've been up and down the convention hall.

@BinaryPie they were giving them out on both days so far, so my assumption would be Sunday too.

They are still giving them out. Not sure how many they've got left, but it looked like a lot.
