The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
It has arrived at last! Nintendo is celebrating the 13th anniversary of Waluigi with his very own standalone game! Released this week on the 3DS, Waluigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, will feature our purple pal as he sets out to calm angry ghosts by reconstructing the Dark Moon crystal that was broken by none other than the antagonist of 2001's Luigi's Mansion: Luigi. Look at the features list!
Explore a game that is longer and better than Luigi's Mansion in literally every way.
Several mansions keep the game varied and display Waluigi's vast wealth over certain impoverished rivals whose names start with L.
Make progress by solving puzzles that would stump uneducated green-clad plumbers.
Defeat ghosts with your trusty Poltergust 5001.
Use the D-Pad to say "Waa" in a number of different ways!
Enter the scary Waausoleum with three other Waluigis in the game's unique multiplayer mode!
Grab various treasures to boost your score and Waluigi's retirement fund!
Available on cartridge and eShop, enabling you to buy the game twice to ensure a sequel!
After the debacle with Mario Kart 7, I'm very glad that Nintendo rectifying things by finally giving Waluigi the attention he deserves. I hope to see some of you in the multiplayer, and will set up a list of friend codes soon!
Screenshots and videos will be up soon. It's actually kinda hard to find any.
I'm super duper excited for this, but I just had a rather depressing thought.
My completion rate of hand-held games is tragically low. I never finished NSMB2. I never finished Mario Land 3D. I never finished Mario Kart. I never finished Fire Emblem. Things aren't looking good for Mr. Luigi.
I might be the only person in the world with this opinion...
But I'm having a really hard time getting into this game. Many of the aesthetics are all wrong for a Mario universe game. The ghosts don't look anything at all like Boos, and E. Gadd looks nothing like a Mario character. Luigi sticks out like a sore thumb next to the rest of the characters of this game. Also, Luigi's character model seems to have way more polygons compared to anyone else. You can actually see the joints and polys on the ghost's arms and tails. They just look... bad.
We were given this very well rendered Luigi model, and the rest of the game looks kind of trashy in comparison.
And because of that, it really makes it hard for me to stay focused.
You know, to an extent I agree. The various ghosts don't quiiiiiite have the visual appeal of the ghosts in the first game, and the music that plays when you've got a ghost in your vacuum tunnel just doesn't sound quite right.
Then again so much else is done so well I'm having a hard time being bothered by that. Especially with all the crazy animation of the various ghosts, which is miles better than the first game. And busting Boos is hilarious.
Yeah, the animations are good, and the ghosts themselves are fine. They just aren't Mario ghosts, and that's what bothers me. I'd prefer if the supporting cast actually looked like the rest of everything in the Mario universe.

Though if you get right down to it the cast of the original Luigi's Mansion didn't quite look like anything in Mario's universe either. The ghosts are more Ghostbusters than Mario (especially in the eyes), and E. Gadd has always looked bizarre. We've just come to accept them.

Yea the ghosts are different but then you run into a boo and all becomes right in the Mario universe. It's made ok because all the ghosts have charming personalities.

So we need to get a PA game going guys. I played the scarescraper mode a bit last night and it is hellafun. Teaming up, while at the same time competing. Great stuff.

Of course, it's Luigi who has the best line.
"Oohhh... this looks bad...."
It's like Bowser's taunting us. I'm imaging that Bowser uploaded that video.

Yea...this is the problem. The ghosts follow the art style of the first game...only they're a bit more fun and charming in this one.

I haven't unlocked Scarescraper yet.
I'm trying.
It's unlocked at Mission 5 IIRC.
