Lol. For "reasons" our league organsiser informed us about a newly implemented rule. There has to be a designated match reporter for a league game. If every playeris too drunk to fill it out there has to be a third person responsible for the match report.

Now I'm curious about the incident that prompted this.

A Gnome team has been announced!
Contains foxes, a badger, a goose, a duckling, and gnomes.
    https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/03/02/warhammer-world-anniversary-gnomes-bring-animals-illusions-and-pointy-hats-to-blood-bowl/

Linemen have Jump Up and Wrestle, Beastmasters have guard.

They're certainly pretty and fun miniatures!

Can we have Warcry stats too?

Yes… and no. They’re pretty reclusive, almost as bad as Zoats on that front, but they’ve been part of the Lore since first edition and have received mentions periodically but the old metal gnome warriors went OoP long ago.

So, do they get only one positional with the beastmaster? Plus probably two treemen (kinda wild that there are now two plastic treemen just for bloodbowl). Looks like there's a model with a magical flaming ball?

Very weird team. Very strong combination of starting skills, but all on models that are probably closer to halflings than gobbos with their stats.

Yeah, gonna be interesting. I wonder if their team rules will reflect their inherent magic at all? Or maybe a new kind of Wizard sideline staff? They’re supposed to be naturally steeped in the wind of Ulgu.

I think at least three positionals: the Beastmasters, the foxes, and the gnomes with the shadow magic.

What I want to know is who’s going to be thrower for the foxes to play catch with? If the beastmasters are the defensive strongpoint it shouldn’t be them… or are they just all going to have a decent but not great throwing arm?

Illusionist throwers with dump off pass I guess? There's one with a ball on a fishing rod that looks like they might also be able to catapult it.

They could just be runners with no need for passing, though someone probably ought to have P skill access on the team. Pretty sure they're going to have either Big Hand or Monstrous Mouth.

But only goes so far, that it's close enough for you to chase and get within arm's length, so it can only then run a little bit further.

Every frikkin' dog I have had, or looked after, has done this. They want you to throw the ball, but they do NOT want to give it up, and would rather you chase them.

P skill access as secondary or primary is the question. Because everyone in my blorc team has it as secondary and they might as well not have it at all. Passing is just the worst skill list for random and it gets prohibitively expensive in SSP and TV to take chosen secondary skills. I'd kill for a gobbo with P as primary skill.

The gnome models also seem great for the stack of free non combat 28mm indi games that popped up over the last years, like fishing28, apple picking 28, etc.

I think Jump Up is going to be the Gnomes’ Thing. Y’know like how Norse have Block or Amazons have Dodge. Which is interesting because even if they average M5 that still makes them pretty fast in the long run.

So far it looks like they're not going to have dodge as a skill though. making them pretty different to other stunty teams.
I wonder how many gold a halfing with stunty, jump up, wrestle is going to be. I'm guessing 35-40k?

Ok, so, set up your illusionist next to your beastmaster on the front line. They set up a row of dudes opposite as usual. Someone swings for the illusionist; they teleport behind the attacker and get an assist regardless due to Guard…
Now imagine later in the league when your illusionist has Fend or Sidestep…

Illusionist: Agility and Passing as primary, General as secondary
    Treeman: Strength a Primary, G A P as secondary
Fox: no primary, Agility as secondary

So, my Ogres team in Blood Bowl, should they be the Gore-Mond Gluttons, the Gore-Mound Gluttons, or the Gore-Mont Gluttons? I think Gore-Mond works better for the pun but I don't know if it reads as a place name as well, or should I get rid of the hyphen and just go straight Goremond Gluttons or Goremound Gluttons or something like that?

Goremound would suggest a mound of gore to me before gourmand. But i am an uncultured swine so that might just be me. Gore-Mond would also get me to say the words with a similar pronunciation as gourmand, which goremound does not. I just read that as smooshing together gore and mound.

Pronunciation was my concern with Goremound as well, I just don't know if Gore-Mond reads as a place name properly,

    Maybe Goremont might work better?

Goremound sounds like a local landmark mound

Goremont sounds like a regional landmark mountain

Goremond I think leans heaviest towards the pun without an alternative meaning.

I ended up going with Goremond, I felt it flowed best. Now I just need to think of a secondary color to pair with red for them...

    Ham pink?

Red armour with a white stripe down the middle, and pink trousers (maybe with a white or cream stripe as well, maybe black)?

Then have the gnoblars all in various dirty whites, except the one wearing a single sock, which should be bright red.
I think you could get a decent 'modern' look from it whilst also hinting at a washing disaster.

New Season: Would you rather keep:
    a)
Black Orc with Guard, Wrestle, 5SPP unspent, 1x niggling (not the best combo but both random, so cheap)
Goblin with nothing but 8SPP unspent (enough for a secondary skill after the first game)
    b)
Goblin with Wrestle, Sure Feet, Sneaky Git, Safe Pair of Hands, 15SPP unspent (All randoms)
    plus new Black Orc

The b) gobbo is very nice, but a new Blorc might take forever to skill up.

Could also keep both those Goblins and the a) Blorc but then I'd have to fire my Troll with Strong Arm, Guard, Juggernaught, Stand Firm and I don't think I can do that

edit: hrrmm, if I go option a) I also have to decide between:

gobbo with diving tackle, diving catch, sidestep, sneaky git, safe pair of hands, -1PA

    and

gobbo with jump up, fend, wrestle, diving tackle, 2x niggling

In the true spirit of Blood Bowl, you should just leave it to random chance. Flip a coin.

I would prefer to keep a skilled Black Orc, Goblins are more replaceable and while the skill package is nice it's not really coherent anyway.
I'd keep the double niggle goblin as well, that's a nice set of skills and there's a chance he'll heal the niggling injuries during the offseason anyway.

I personally like b, but given that it's Blood Bowl, if you pick the well developed gobbo, he's fucked on game 1.

To be fair, anything he picks is probably knackered.

A friend loved Skaven specifically for the Rat Ogre. And bought one for his starting team, despite it being a significant cost.

Over four seasons (~20 games I think), he got to put a Rat Ogre on the table five times.

I say *A* Rat Ogre. Because the original died in the opening game. As did the second and fourth in their starting games. The third lasted six games, but got a niggling injury in their opener, and missed four games, before dying in the final round of the third season.

Made funnier by all but one of those fatalities were self inflicted (failed block three times, and a GFI, IIRC)

Ironically, he never lost a positional, or even had one get a serious injury. Couple linemen bit it, but that's expected.
