Washington state law is very strict with alcohol, so even if the organizers of the party say it's okay, I'd make sure they talked to the venue about a mixed aged event with alcohol.
Like the above poster said, sometimes the venues are stricter than the organizers want to be, so show up early and talk to the door person to make sure you can get in before waiting in line.

If you want to experience strict alcohol laws, come to pax east.
They aren't supposed to serve people with out of state drivers licenses.

O_O No out of state driver's licenses? And I thought my state's alcohol laws were overkill...

Here's the most logical explanation of the situation. It all comes down to liability.
Did MadCatz have a party last year? Was it good? I'm not sure if I want to go, but it would be something to do on Thursday night
Mad Catz has done an Unveiled party at PAX East and SDCC this year. It's a great way to meet and interact with Fighting Game Community, and there's always cool prizes and loot.
Personally, I love fighting games and the community that represents it, so it's always a fun time to chill out and play some games.
Not mention, it was originally $50 last year for PAX East (I think), so at $20, it's a much better price point. If you have nothing else to do, it's definitely worth your while.

Door prizes? Or prizes from some sort of small tourney there? I'm not fighting game fan, but I have watched EVO couple of years thanks to the SO that loves it.
Join nine Pacific Northwest breweries on Monday, September 2, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Pine Box Bar to taste some specialty brews to benefit local non-profit Child’s Play Charity. This one is definitely 21+ and has $35 tickets. The winning beer of the night will be served at the Child's Play charity auction in december.

Added! We did the CAH after party at the Pine Box. Its a cute little place not too far from the con.
This is my first PAX Prime; is it just me or does PAX Prime have a lot more parties going on than East?
I would speculate that it is because the Prime venue is literally right in the middle of Downtown Seattle, instead of being a bit away from things like the venue at East is.

Yeah, easier for both attendees and devs to walk like 1-10 blocks then back to hotel after I would think. Granted I've no idea on the actual count.

Is that new? When we were there in 2012 my husband and I didn't have any issues with our out of state licences anywhere we went.

It may just seem that way. If you check out the list from East it usually ends up being just about the same number.
You have to walk 15 minutes to get absolutely anywhere from the back bay section of Boston, usually it's more like a 45 minute walk or requires a car.
And in freakin' cold weather too. That just about did us in last year and we're from Michigan!

Boo, it's at the Taphouse which I refuse to go to. Any bar that eliminates Happy Hour just because a convention is in town doesn't need my business.
This is for the Elder Scrolls Online food truck that's making it's way around the country, it was also at PAX East.
Just as a heads up, the food and swag is on a first come first serve basis.
So there WILL be swag? I was wondering about that. Honestly I care more about free food lol
Oh my Dayum
Oh my goodness
