This woman wanted me to go to our IT guys and outfit my blackberry with a mobile hotspot so I could be available to work on the weekends from wherever even if I didn't have internet access
I never went
She asked if I did just now
I said no, I've been too busy
But really, because I refuse to get caught in that trap and set that precedent
lecture me all you want but I still have the discretion to call bullshit on bullshit

But there's not enough change in two years to make me want to upgrade. By the time an upgrade is useful the socket is different.
Maybe I should switch to AMD.
It's the same on AMD, they just do this weird thing where you can sometimes put your new chip in an old socket and have it work but not as well as it should.
EDIT: Also, unless you're REALLY hardcore or something you shouldn't be updating your processor nearly as frequently as sockets change.

I wait 4-5 years. In that time the socket has changed at least once or twice. This forces me to get a new motherboard, and then I probably have to upgrade the RAM too. A new socket every two years is very expensive.
