The server i played on for the longest while, they were insufferable.

When i played later, the bulk of them weren't so bad, but the damage was already done.

Fair enough. I had worse experiences with Taru players, though I generally didn't mind the Taru NPCs.

One of my favorite NPCs was a Mithra thief in Bastok. She has a couple of quests where you help her steal some valuable things (I think it was a painting? It's been years).

It turns out that she steals to support her daughter, and they both live in a tiny house that also serves as her hideout.

I thought that was a nice touch, and also shows that the Mithras aren't bitter when they keep giving birth to girls. I was hoping that thief would have more quests, but sadly it's just a couple in the beginning and that's it.

I wrot eit down before the beta closed last weekend and then lost the paper. I'm fairly sure i am not meant to know.

The heads were fine in FFXI, they just had giraffe necks.

Also, playing tall races is fun but honestly the best part of being a super short race is you always feel like you're running fast. The opposite is true of tall races.

Well, it wasn't necessarily a shitty class in FFXI. The overall power ceiling was lower than other classes, but one of the cool things about FFXI is you could make up for a lot by just being good.

Also, everything was so fucking obfuscated in that game by Square Enix that it was really hard to tell what was actually good through any meaningful way except word of mouth. No recount or anything to measure dps. So, dragoons had a bad rep in that game, but not necessarily for any legitimate reason.

Yeah that was one of the things I hated most. Player perception mattered so much in who got invites and shit, and it didn't ever seem to change no matter how much evidence spoke to the contrary.

There actually was a damage parse but it was against the rules so you had to keep it on the DL. My girlfriend's corsair could get ridiculous damage in bird merit parties but I had to search on redmage and demand she be invited too. And it was the same story for my blue mage, she would have to search on bard to get me in groups despite my really good damage.
