Oooo Quakecon sales! Awesome, Can't wait to pick up the Unreal games for cheap!.... wait... Might grab the Fallout 3 Goty edition to replace my launch Disc version, never did do the DLC.
In honor of my impending birthday yesterday (30 years? Nah, couldn't be), let's have a giveaway! This is my first attempt with Steamgifts, so we'll see how it goes. It's open to the G&T Adventure Team group. Good luck!
This looks awesome and fun. It looks like a thing I should want. Does anyone know if there's a reason I should not want it? I feel like I might have heard of it at some point in a not-flattering way?

I just thought people were calling it sexist or something.

It's basically kind of cute/naughty Halloween costume fighting game as far as the general character feel. Do you like fighting games?
So what is it with id and removing their games from Steam? I know it makes sense with Doom 3 since they replaced it with Doom 3 BFG, but Wolfenstein 2009, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, there's probably a few others - just pulled from the store.
Might have something to do with them switching publishers? (ETQW was also splash damage, not id)
So, I think the only problem I am having really with Rise of the Triad is the fact that you move too fast. I feel like my eyes are going to throw up or my head is bursting at the speed you move, or maybe it's a visual thing and i'm playing too close to the TV. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, this is my only problem with it too. I have desperately tried to move slower, but even crouching it's still crazy fast and does make me a bit nauseous.
Skullgirls: I don't care about sexist/naughty/whatever. It looks fun. I want it.
Skullgirls looks amazing - I haven't played a fighting game on the PC since One Must Fall way back when. I see Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat have seen ports - are they solid? Is there much of an online community for PC fighters?
Man, I thought @Luchaire would be broken for a while, and it was safe to both mock and ask her about Papo y Yo. She gifted it to me, so I guess THAT's all over.

Which character are you playing? They all have different movement speeds and stamina ratings. Doug Wendt is the slowest character with a maximum stamina rating. Slow and tanky. Lorelei is the fastest and Thi is right behind her.
There's probably a character in there that's a good fit for you. I'm playing Thi and personally I'm loving the speed.

Anyone who thinks Skullgirls is sexist has never laid eyes on Dragon's Crown.
Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

It seems crazy that I didn't already own Quakes 1 through 3 on Steam, considering how much time I sunk into them collectively during high school & early university. Q2, especially - I played the ever-loving shit out of that game, and all the mods I could get my hands on. Even made my own levels.
I can't even imagine ever having that kind of free time again.

Well, that was short-lived.
My next attempted gifting led to "for the protection of the account holder...."

Perhaps I don't launder it correctly? It's the wrong shade of green for the Newell's cash swimming pool? The Newell is actually a relative and dislikes me?
Is Quake 4 worth the having or is it just a case of "whatevs, Quake collection get instead!"?
Though it's been a few years since I played it, I personally loved Quake 4. It's a run-and-gun corridor shooter with some decent squad AI mechanics, and it still looks pretty good even by today's standards.
Keep in mind though, I love all things id, so I might not be the best judge. Still, if you like straightforward FPS action, it's a good romp.

SE++ has a pretty solid SF4 community for PC streets. Online generally isn't hard to find people to play against for Streets. MK apparently has janky as all hell netcode so wait for that to get fixed I guess.
Also get skullgirls because:

Skullgirls is a solid little anime fighting game. The art style can be a bit "ugh, please stop emulating the worst parts of anime" but even at it's worst I don't find it to be as abhorrent as some things.
On consoles it had some teething problems but they released a massive overhaul patch for it that really changed things for the better imho. PC is based on that.
Plus it has a simply amazing soundtrack that's kind of classical meets lounge jazz and I love it so much oh my god.
Also it has probably the greatest fighting game tutorial, one that actually teaches things about the mechanics you need to know to actually, you know, be able to play fighting games properly.
Despite the somewhat darker side of the character designs it's still all presented in a pretty cute, vibrant and lovely way. I've been playing the beta off and on and I just love most of the presentation of the game.
What I'm saying is that everybody should get Skullgirls because not doing is basically a war crime. It's one of the only things I actually backed the kickstartery thing for, that's how behind it I am.
At the end of the day if you don't get it, you'll end up getting it because I'm willing to go bankrupt to make sure my friend's list is populated with people who have this game...just sayin'.

Oh, that makes it sound even more inviting. I could use some good tutorial stuff.
Maybe I'll go ahead and buy -- oh, right. Valve hates me.

How are those games? Never played em, myself.

Assault Squad is really good, if niche.
King's Bounty is King's Bounty. They're pretty much all the same.
Congrats! Just don't give out TOO many games at once...the watchful eye of the Newell is apparently upon you.

I would like to refer you to page 99 or 100 of the last thread. Because I can't be arsed to re-type that whole endorsement I posted. :P

Nope, nothing from support. But... What's this?
A gift. From @Shade. Commander Keen, you say? "Because I can" you say?
Someday I will not be steamblocked. Just remember that.

I found a gif of a level from it.

Thank you. It sounds like something I'd enjoy.
I just watched that loop like 15 times and I'm still not convinced that any human could really do that.
