We were talking about this last night. Many of us feel there's nothing "wrong" with the G&T server per se, but since it's primarily G&T they mostly talk about games whereas we prefer to talk about pretty much anything and find talking about games all the time pretty damn boring. There was also general agreement that Capt K is pretty awesome but still it's more enjoyable being able to just hang out and bullshit on our own server than having people on the G&T server frequently steer conversation to gaming.

Many of us had the experience that if we tried to spilnter off, within a few minutes everyone else followed and more likely than not, started talking about games again.
sometimes, but again, even the mods there are more G&T regulars than SE++ers, so they aren't always keen on our sort of chatting and occasional shenanigans.
a) i ain't got a headset mic. I ain't even got a pc mic. I have a studio mic and a full sized mic stand, so it is awkward to get it in a position where i can consistently talk, or i just have to hold it and talk like a damn game show host
b) i hate talking to one person on the phone and vent seems like trying to talk to nine people at the same time on the phone
c) when i'm on the computer i'm usually doin' nine things at the same time. i can keep a window with the forums handy and post and read at my leisure, but on vent you gotta pay attention all the time to hear what people are saying and you can't just jump in and say a response to something said ten minutes ago
d) on a forum i have all the time in the world to carefully consider what i am typing so i can appear much more charming and witty than i really am. in a realtime conversation i'm all 'huuuuuuurrrrrrr you guys ever ate a pomegranite'
