Chicago Cubs - Bad News/Good News Bears: From one Chicago club to the other. Where the White Sox have only just begun to rebuild, the Cubs started their effort last off-season where they traded almost all their established talent making any money -- and finished the job at the Trade Deadline. What's left is, essentially, a AAA team on a Major League roster. That said, the Cubs are on the right track, but let's start by taking a look at the team on the field. (link for the rest)
Nov 4, 5pm: Last chance to for clubs to make Qualified Offers
Nov 5: Free Agents can negotiate with any team
Nov 11, 5pm: Deadline for Free Agents to accept Qualifying Offers
Dec 9-12: Winter Meetings
Dec 12: Rule 5 Draft
LINKS
MLB.com - Yeah. Baseballs website. Might as well link to it.
Fangraphs - If you are not reading Fangraphs, you need to start. Period. Best site for baseball analysis (and a fair bit of humor) on the web.
Fire Joe Morgan - It's my OP. I can include this if I want. If you've never discovered this - now sadly no longer updated - site, you need to read it. Perhaps the greatest baseball 'blog' to ever exist.
-- The "Yes" Network, which televises Yankees games, had a great shot of David Ross, Mike Carp and other Sox players howling in laughter when Drew dug up a divot and made a sprawling catch of a foul popup by Curtis Granderson in the fourth inning. What did Ross say to Drew? "Nice route, Magellan," the catcher said.
So, Ross had paid attention in his high school history class? "I crushed high school history," he said.
The last two days have been awesome for Yankee schadenfreude
Boy howdy. I doubt you knew this when you typed that but, Boone Logan and David Robertson (heir to Rivera) were just announced as sidelined with injuries.
Angels have won 11 of their last 14 games now. CJ Wilson got his first win against his former team tonight, the Texas Rangers, the last team for him to get a win against in the American League. Still 8 games under .500 but they did snap a seven game losing steak to the Texas Rangers.

I noticed Logan leaving with an injury but not Robertson, who has been almost equal to Rivera statwise the past few years
that Napoli HR... *kisses fingers*
even if I didn't have Napoli in my fantasy league

Reports say Ells doesn't look like he has a break, but isn't recovering like they expected. Hmm. Not the worst thing, but he might miss the playoffs. On the bright side, at least we have Jackie Bradley waiting in the wings.
Also, these Sox have put 54 runs on the boards in the last 4 days. DAMN.

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust
You should link this in the old thread. Would the friggin' Indians lose a couple? I would like to rest people and set up the aforementioned rotation for the playoffs.
Also, paging 2011 Justin Verlander. Again.
The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

Screw that noise. I'm rooting for the Indians to blow past the Orioles and Rays and grab the Wild Card. Partially because it'd mean more rest time for the Sox

I'm actually fine with them in the playoffs because Detroit OWNS the Tribe. They're like 5-14 against Detroit and 71-51 against everyone else.

Yankee fan buddy of mine said to me after today's game, "The fucking Sox aren't going to lose another game this season, are they?"
I mean, hyperbole, of course. They're bound to lose one or two.
Also, as good as the Braves have been in their division all season, I can't help but be most afraid of the Dodgers. A pitching rotation like theirs, in good health, going into the playoffs is a terrifying thing. Makes me hope we get our Buchholz situation sorted soon.

Cleveland's inability to beat the Tigers this season has been immensely frustrating.

Or immensely satisfying, depending on which team you root for.

If the Rays could remember that they don't suck anymore at some point this week, that'd just be great.
Aw, I thought finishing first in the division in the fantasy league would get me a first round bye, but I checked and it's still the teams with the top two records who get the byes.
If that's the case then why do we even have divisions?
Brian Gorman calls a strike without asking for help on a check swing (it was marginal, no way you could tell from behind the plate) on a pitch that hits Cabrera, tosses him when he asks for an appeal, then tosses Leyland. In the first inning.
Fucking umpires.

And Koji Uehara is a fucking beast. That splitter to strike out Longoria? One of the nastiest things Ive ever seen.
Sorry I lagged on OP updating there. Been a weird few days - plus I got absorbed way too much by MTG-DOTP 2013. Once the action finishes tonight, I'll update

Edit: 3-2 count. HUGE PITCH COMING
EDIT: Well. Pence couldnt get there.. ball dropped a HAIR in front of his glove. Thats as close to perfection as you can come without getting there
Still, that's a hell of a line he pitched. Kinda sad that a few inches is the difference between a great game and an entry in the record books.

I can't claim credit for this statement, but I cant help but agree oh so much.
As a Sox fan, Tuesday through now has been a 96 hour baseball orgasm.

Ellsbury has serious bird bones. Always get your vitamins, kids!
He also had a home run earlier in the game.
Ask and it shall be given unto you.
