I have the same broiling hatred for drunk drivers and irresponsible drivers.
Basically, anybody who fucks around while controlling anything that can kill someone can get fucked whether it be gun or car.

Makes me wonder why people have such a hatred for guns specifically. The people you don't want to have the guns are still going to get the guns. Not big on my priority list. It'd just turn into another war on drugs, except this time crazy hillbillies are involved instead of stoners and tweekers.

If you left your toddler in a bathtub full of water and they drowned you'd go to jail. If you leave your gun laying around where a 3 year old can manipulate it to go off, you don't get shit.
And buy a robocop.
Because cars have to be registered, have identifying plates on them that are tied to the owner that can be used by law enforcement when a car is used in a crime, have to be insured for liability and inspected for safety to even be on the road, and can only be driven by someone who has proven their competency on the road (and will have to do so again a few times in their life).
I think you would find that if all of those statements could be applied to guns, there would be far fewer people asking for a banning of them.
Actually, almost nobody is asking for a carpet banning of guns except for crazypeople.

But countries that ban guns in general do so because they serve little to no public purpose, unlike cars, which form the basis for our infrastructure. And even then, countries like the UK with gun control do have exceptions for people who have a decent reason to own one. My father, for example, owns a shotgun, which is occasionally used for dealing with rats and foxes, as well as pheasant hunting now and again (yes, we eat the pheasants, for those curious; they taste worse than chicken or turkey in my opinion, but he seems to like them).
