Living in an apartment with alternate day street parking is one of those things that sticks nightmares in your brain for life.

Everyone has teeth falling out nightmares and unprepared for exam nightmares, maybe left the house nude ones too. Car on the street and getting towed joins them seamlessly.

I have to worry about alternative street parking just twice a month (for street sweeping) and every now and then I'll get this random sense of "oh shit was it today? did I get a ticket?" and it is the worst thing

Sorry, dude, was playing Patrician IV.

BNW is on sale on Steam.

EDIT: I picked up BNW for $20, pre-ordered the XCOM expansion and got the complete Warlock pack for $6.
(Warlock is like Civ, only with a fantasy setting and magic powers. I played the demo a long time ago and liked it, so I figured $6 was an acceptable risk if it sucks.)

That's sort of what I was wondering. I wouldn't have picked up BNW until the last day of the publisher weekend; it might go on a deeper sale.

    probably won't, but

$6 is about right for warlock

fun for a bit but fairly shallow

that's exactly how I described it the other day

    ('shallow', not 'worth $6')

I was meeting with one of my advisors the other day and he said "this seems like a really good place in your paper for you to actually work through some of the math."

I've lived in fear of this moment my entire life

i've been towed probably five times since i moved here

it's expensive and a huge pain in the ass

and tow truck people are the fucking worst. like, if i had to power to grant world peace i'd use it to negotiate the destruction of every last towing employee on the planet.

When I lived in Troy, NY, I lived in the tiny downtown area and my street was alternate sides overnight, 2 hours during the day. And they watched it with parking enforcement and towing companies like the city's finances depended on it. Because they probably did. Sleep in past 9:00am without moving your car? TICKET. Accidentally fall asleep on the couch after dinner and let the clock strike midnight? Massive fine, boot or tow. Roll the dice!

I got so many tickets, towed three times (two of which were bullshit but good luck fighting it when there were no witnesses and business is slow at Sal's Towing and Definitely Not a Chop Shop). I would be your towing company himmler.

that comic, man. It makes me sad every time.

or, in the style of the memoirs of Virginia Woolf:

Every time I see that comic with Ronald I am caught with sadness; & worry; & despair that washes over the heart. I am unhappy unhappy! --what is it & why? Do not forget that what is bad is bad; not to go on in that way. Good advice I think. Failure, failure. Yes, I detect that.
