There was an interview with the director early on where he said his favorite godzilla movies were Gojira and Destroy All Monsters, in that order - and he's going for Gojira with this movie but if he gets to make another he'd be leaning more towards DAM.
I thought it was interesting that in the Oppenheimer teaser, there was apparently footage that wasn't actually going to be used in the final movie, but then some of it was still in this teaser. Hm.

I think Edwards has gone on record saying that if they can do a sequel, he basically wants to do a Destroy All Monsters scenario. He's said that he imagines this movie to be a world in which there are a number of giant monsters in existence and how humanity deals with them.

There's a new Godzilla movie? Color me excited. MY favorite movies have to be the Millenium films. Especially Godzilla: Final Wars. Aliens? Psychic power ranger wannabes with guns? Every monster in the world getting it's booty kicked by Godzilla? Yes, please!
Also it should be noted Toho is planning on making another Godzilla movie as well, independent of the US film. Apparently they want to do a sequel to Godzilla vs. Hedorah the Smog Monster
So if Godzilla in this movie got in a fight with every kaiju from Pacific Rim simultaneously
Well the old Toho Godzilla from the 90s topped out around 300-350ft. So he would dwarf every kaiju that Pacific Rim had with the exception of a Class V and the new Godzilla is supposed to be even bigger, so...
Also it should be noted Toho is planning on making another Godzilla movie as well, independent of the US film. Apparently they want to do a sequel to Godzilla vs. Hedorah the Smog Monster
That one's been "in production" for years and years, and aside from some downright absurd plot summaries being leaked out, nothing substantive has ever come of it. It's that producer's pet project basically (he made the original Godzilla vs. Hedorah ).

I know I've heard it before, it's really bugging me that I can't place it.
Bioweapons, mechs, psychics, whatever. If it could, hypothetically, ruin a giant monster's day, it's been deployed against Godzilla.

I could never forget that game.
