Clockwork Empires is a
ſandbox colony builder ſet in a Victorian ſteampunk univerſe. The Empire has ſent you to the frontier to eſtablish a colony, which will ſuck the brand new territory dry and ſend precious reſources back to the glorious homeland. You must carefully manage your colony and promote your own preſtige while dealing with cultiſts, fiſh-people, and other eldritch horrors from beyond the unknown.
Farm for food,
manage your ſupply lines, make the aurochs go extinct,
prepare your ſoldiers for combat,
extract labor from the proletariat,
keep your ariſtocracy happy, deal with the inevitable mining diſaſters, and ſo forth.
You can play ſingle player or with up to 4 people, ſimultaneously or in ſucceſſive multiplayer (paſs off your colony to the next perſon). You pick your own goals: each ſcenario comes with objectives that the Empire gives you, but ſince it's your colony, you can align yourſelf with whoever you want, or even juſt try to make it on your own.
The game will come out in
2014 2015 2016 (Oct 26th) for PC, Mac, and Linux.
Gaſlamp Games Inc. is an award-winning independent game ſtudio headquartered in Vancouver, B.C. Founded by Nicholas Vining, Daniel Jacobſen and David Baumgart, Gaſlamp Games achieved critical ſucceſs in 2011 for its roguelike RPG, Dungeons of Dredmor.

When you have a game like dwarven fortress where your objective is to succeed, yet make it so that murphy isnt just your god but hes also got a really big bet on how badly he can make you fail then you change the game into something else. It's like playing the Sims and expecting that as long as you work at it, your character will never manage to set his cat on fire or sleep with the mailman. Thats not to say you cant fail in hilarious ways, but its hard to get much longevity out of the game. Most people would work at it long enough to get a decent sized town going, find one little volcano (the hard way), quietly put down the controller and move on to something else.
Its only the really crazy dedicated people that turn games like this into legend.
Will there be airships? Steam tanks?
As for tanks, via this dev blog: So it sounds like probably not.
As much traction as I am still getting out of Dungeons of Dredmor, this is a must have for sure.

Oh God. But there are (presumably) steam mechs instead.
Well, I'm off to the frontier. For Queen and Country!
And definitely not for worship of Quag'garoth or Klyn'Thraep.
Nope.
Definitely not that.
All will fall before the might of my clockwork Mecha armies!
Honestly I will pick this up even if it's just a Dwarf Fortressy game of redcoats vs squid monsters.
A great game
A valuable history lesson
A scavenger hunt
OP has everything!

Ye are the ſault of the earth and ſainted. God shall ſeel your endeavours until ye ſit on his right hand. Therefore fight the good fight, for his ſake, and he shall be thy ſuccour.
I understand that. But most games that have tried to duplicate this have gone in the direction 'well todays gamers need a clear ending and a successful ending'. thats why i said 'like dwarven fortress'.
If this game does not force me through Dwarf Fortress levels of hilarious escalation in failures i will be dissapoint with a capital F

Phrasing issue then, I understand where you were trying to go with that.

Less than stable.
Until later patches / expansions, anyway.
CTDs in these sort of games are especially awful.
It's not a bad looker given the genre. :P
The character models remind me of Freedom Force.
Inb4 real men play in ASCII
Th other image was from Gnomoria.
I would pay good money for a superhero base building game where as you build your base you attract stronger heroes and can assemble custom Avenger's style teams to go fight crime. Then you'd have super villains trying to attack, dimensional portals opening that to have to contain, mole people breaking into the ground floors, and so on. The base would need medbays, training rooms, residential areas, entertainment, a command room, etc.
Fuck, why doesn't this game exist?
So Evil Genius Meets JLU's watchtower, with Hero's instead of Henchmen?
Since we're talking about games that don't exist, I'd like a wizarding simulator. Where you get to build a massive wizard tower somewhere, research/invent spells to mess around with, perform crimes against sense and all that is holy, have a minion/butler(probably called Igor or something) to do all the maintenance and shit jobs, research spells, summon/create hideous mutations that you'll then hide in a dungeon, and occasionally get pestered by jackass adventuring parties of heroes. Maybe if you get bored, you'll launch a reign of terror as an evil wizard, meddle in the neighboring kingdoms' business, etc.
Basically, let me be an evil wizard.
What if it were a wizard version of sim city, fighting or cooperating with neighboring wizards over matters arcane and mystical.
You're a horrible, horrible person!
[style size="4px"]And I'm quite horrible myself so that's saying something...[/style]
EDIT: Either the forum lied when it said I could use BBCode in my post, or someone should update that link which appears below every post........................................
HAHAHAH!
