- The rumors of AMC Networks being interested in purchasing WWE comes from the Betaville blog. They wrote:
"Good sources tell me cable group AMC Networks has been sniffing around World Wrestling Entertainment Inc, the US-listed company behind those ridiculous wrestling programmes, such as WWF, Raw and Smackdown.
AMC Networks has held at least one exploratory conversation with WWE - which saw its shares rise by about 30pc during last week - about some kind M&A transaction in recent months, according to "people familiar with the matter". However, the talks are understood to have not gone anywhere.
Another source said bankers from UBS have been advising AMC Networks, owner of Sundance TV, on a potential deal and financing options.
This well-placed source said any transaction may value WWE at between $2.6 and $2.8bn."
It should be noted that a deal between WWE and AMC is by no means a certainty. The chances of WWE selling are very slim. WWE's George Barrios told Bloomberg last week that the company is not in merger talks.
Retro gaming throwback? An argument for the efficacy of local multiplayer? Or just an excuse to get 30 of the coolest people we know in one room to play a wrestling game and yell at each other? No matter how you slice it, it’s a live play through of the Royal Rumble in a classic THQ game on Nintendo 64. There will be thrills. There will be chills. There will be spills. Come cheer for the faces, boo the heels, and marvel at the 15+ unannounced special guests. LIVE, only at PAX East.

If I am not dead from whatever I do Saturday night, I am going to attempt to go to this. Hahaha.
In tribute of Bryan finally getting his Mania shot, here's his best ever ROH title defense. Forget Nigel McGuinness, Homicide, Takeshi Morishima, and KENTA, it's time for...
So on the seedier parts of the wrestling related internet I discovered an Extreme Tiger collection, no part of my brain can understand who wants an Extreme Tiger collection without a trace of irony.
Like I'd consider watching it but only because I hate myself.
If anybody here doesn't know who Extreme Tiger is, frankly that will be most of you, then you certainly owe it to yourselves to youtube him and see his majesty.
You know he's wrestling in TNA now as Tigre Uno, right?

There's nothing funnier to me than the combination of pretentiousness that comes from using "programmes" and the stupidity of saying that WWE's flagship show is called WWF.
I'd like them to say fuck it and air Raw and Smackdown on the Network first. Go ahead and sell the replay rights to network television like they're doing with Main Event.
Although this is probably "bad for business", but whatever.
Man, 30 man real life multiplayer No Mercy would be awesome. Supposedly there was a rumor that THQ was planning an updated roster hi res version prior to their disbandment similar to the wrestlefest update, and of course like the wrestlefest XBLA and steam releases that died with THQ.
I just watched DDT4 and it is fucking awesome. So much great stuff on this show.
The dueling chants for the Inner City Machine Guns and the Unbreakable Fucking Machines before the match even starts are fucking awesome.
The four way number one contender match is so different from every other four way match I've ever seen and it's so awesome. Starting with two sets of wrestlers doing mat wrestling which means I've only seen like half of the first five minutes of the match and then just awesome uses of four wrestlers in one match they haven't really done before.
Ricochet hitting a top rope DVD onto the apron on AR Fox is fucking nuts and so awesome.
I don't understand how every PWG show is better than the one that preceeded it, but there it is. They do it.
While they're over here in the States New Japan should team up with Kaiju Big Battel so Okada can can take that giant buster sword and use it to battle one of Dr Cube's evil creations.
Also Sakuraba wrestling Call Me Kevin would be worth the price of admission alone.
The whole endeavour would still be more worthwhile than teaming up with RoH.
[edit]Over here? Apparently I've started to believe I'm an American now. It was only a matter of time before the insidious, creeping influence overtook me I suppose.

That's night 2, you can't give away something like that on the first night, it sets the bar too high.
In New Japan news did we all know that last month they booked Rolles Gracie to beat Sakuraba by submission in the rematch of the awful Gracies (which I've nearly spelled as Gravies five times now so that's what they shall be known as going forward) vs Sakuraba/Nagata showdown from Wrestle Kingdom.
Somebody at New Japan is clearly drunk as fuck if they think putting over the Gravies is a good idea from any conceivable perspective.

Oh geez. I'm watching a Raw from '99 and between PMS, Meat, Beaver Cleavage, Debra, the Godfather and his Ho Train, I'm amazed the WWF at the time wasn't just rated as out and out softcore porn.
Edit: And, y'know, Val Venis, the actual porn star.

I was thinking about Cesaro while at work last night
particularly my joke early in the last thread about him and Mark Henry teaming up as Swiss Chocolate
and then out of fucking nowhere I suddenly understood why his finisher is called the Neutralizer and I almost swore out loud to myself.

Vince: I will never sell *DIES*
Steph: I will honor my fathers legacy!
Triple H: I will honor her fathers legacy!
AMC: This is how much we're giving you.
Triple H: Sold!
Steph: What, no! It's my business now.
Triple H: We can live in bliss rich as shit happy married!
Steph: Fine.
*SOLD*
Triple H: We're rich as hell............let's get a divorced.
I'm fairly sure the marriage between a near billionaire heiress and an entertainment multimillionaire is pre-nupped.
Part of me really misses the 90s crazy 'I OWN THE COMPANY NOW' storylines with all the McMahons though.
'I lost my 25% share to Mankind in a Cage Match'
'I bought that 25% of Mankind for a silver platter'
'I gave my half to Stone Cold because I HATE YOU DAD'
And at one point Vince having to hold a stockholders conference saying 'Of course this ain't real you dumb fucks'
Bad Influence aren't at the Impact tapings this week, which will see the next four weeks of Impacts be taped. Their contracts are done in April, and as mentioned, the odds of them re-signing look horrid.

As if I needed yet another reason to avoid TNA.

Well Scott Keith no longer hates them.
