Sony officially announced the PlayStation 4 on February 20, 2013 at a 2 hour event called PlayStation Meeting 2013, which was hosted by Andrew House & held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
The hardware specifications and interface of the new console were presented by Mark Cerny, who also showed off the newly redesigned DualShock 4 controller.
Gaikai CEO, David Perry, took the stage to talk about the potential their streaming and cloud gaming service can bring to the console.
The Playstation 4 made its debut on Monday June 10 at the Sony E3 2013 press conference where it was revealed that it will cost $399 (US), contain a 500GB hard drive, and be packed with a controller and headset (ear bud + cord mic). The PlayStation 4's "used games strategy" was also discussed, and Sony announced there would be no DRM or protection on used PS4 games. Sony also announced that the PlayStation Plus subscription membership is now required for online gaming.
On August 20th 2013 at Gamescom in Germany, Sony revealed the console would be released November 15th 2013 in the US and November 29th in Europe.

PlayStation Nation,
It is with mixed feelings that I inform you that I will be stepping down as President and CEO of SCEA effective March 31, 2014. This is a result of a mutual agreement with SCEA, and I leave knowing that the PlayStation brand has never been stronger, PlayStation 4 momentum continues to accelerate, and the future will only get brighter for our gamers.
Serving PlayStation fans for the past 19 years has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my career. Your passion for gaming inspired me every day.
I want to thank you for constantly pushing PlayStation to deliver breakthrough gaming and entertainment experiences, and to never settle for “good enough.” The embodiment of this commitment can be found in the PS4, which has quickly become the #1 next-gen console worldwide…thanks to you.
We’ve shared many memories over the past two decades and I’ll always be grateful for your support.
Thank you,
Jack Tretton
You will be missed, Captain Jack.

...but what will we play?
I've been saying this a lot lately, but God DAMN, we live in the future and it's awesome.
Lego Marvel Superheroes is also a good choice, plus Dead Nation (Free ps+ game this month) has couch multiplayer.
Critical Failures - Havenhold Campaign • August St. Cloud (Human Ranger)
I personally didn't see the draw, but I understand that some people like Super Motherload, as well.
Tabletop:13th Age (mm-mmm), D&D 4e
Occasional words about games: my site
I can't say I've noticed a click or pop; I'll take a listen when I get home and let you know tonight.
I get a click/pop sound on mine. Think it happens when it's booting up with a cd in the drive. Mine's been fine since launch so you're probably safe ignoring it.
Dead Nation, TOWERFALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, Lego Marvel, Child of Light has a coop mode (one person plays the light orb thing), that hard isometric twin stick shooter/strat game that I can't remember the name.

My copy of inFamous is digital. There's nothing in the drive.
Just tested it, I get a popping noise when I switch it all the way off, and a clicking noise when I'm booting it up from completely turned off.
If I put it in Standby mode or boot it up from standby I don't get any noises.
It's not particularly loud but it is noticeable.
Disc or no disc.
You should be fine. I find it quite reassuring actually.

Infamous just knocked Titanfall off the top spot in the UK.
Steam: adamjnet
If its gone again more than like people got into a fight about console warz like they usually do and the mods closed it again.
Edit: Ah...nope this time it was ranting about Bioware.
Not quite, someone THOUGHT it was ranting about Bioware and it wasn't, it was ranting about dickishness in the industry and finger pointing being useless.
ANYWAY
I have admitted I want a PS4 for the exclusives, mainly for couch co-op Diablo Reaper of Souls. By the time that comes out I should maybe fucking be able to find one in a goddamn store.
/bitter
I can't wait for Diablo for it either. Local co-op like that is too rare, and it's going to be a blast.
Oh please tell me all about it.
Honestly I pretty much just did.
It's a very short story.
They're on Amazon (US) right now. I saw a couple of them at various places over the weekend (Target, Fred Meyer). I don't remember where you hail from, but they're around again now that Japan Launch is over.
Didn't they just (today maybe?) say it was going to be on the XBone too? I'm still really surprised Sony didn't try to get a simultaneous release with the expansion tomorrow. Maybe they did.
they've said that Diablo 3 is in development for the Xbox One, but wont confirm a release, saying that cross-platform development is standard for their console ports. we'll see i suppose.
your rock!
I really enjoyed the single player. You have some utility and the missions aren't always straight forward. It's a lot more challenging than most FPSs.
The multiplayer is awesome. I've noticed that in Big Military Shooter one starts out with really barebone classes and must grind hours (or in my case when you suck, days) to outfit a class for their role. In Killzone: SF every class gets a wide variety of weapons and abilities from the start, and can quickly earn more without having to light the scoreboard on fire.
It seems to have a good population. I still play multiplayer once a week, sometimes more, and I never have problems hopping into a full warzone. I think there are tools for custom map creation as well? I never looked into it but I think my friend mentioned it once.
What about my rock?
You can't create your own map, but you can tailor the warzone options to your personal liking, choosing which weapons you'll allow and what missions will be run.
On the last thread I mentioned there was an Air-drone gauntlet warzone someone had set-up with no guns just knives and Air Drones.
I'm currently taking a break from Killzone while I try and get the Infamous platinum, I'll probably go back once I've done that.
Yeah, but... Xbone. Bleah.
And there's no way it would have been a simultaneous release, they have to completely re-haul the game for the console again.
