You are a capsuleer, able to fly everything from the lowliest shuttle to the most massive capital ship.



When the ship you are piloting explodes, it is destroyed; some of the contents can be looted or salvaged, but the rest is lost forever.

Every mineral can be mined by players, every item and ship can be built by players, and everything can be bought and sold on a market controlled by players.

You can be a bounty hunter, searching high security space for players who have committed offenses, buying their kill rights, and executing them on the spot.

You can be a member of a militia, fighting over low security space between the four major empires of New Eden.

You can be a member of an alliance, joining an empire that spans hundreds of null security systems and taking part in battles that involved thousands of players.

Or you can be a merchant, miner, trader, scam artist, thief, mercenary, moon baron, teacher, space trucker, spy, pirate, or maybe even something no one has thought of yet.



Eve Online is a political, sandbox, spaceship, economic, military MMO in which you can do whatever you want. It takes a departure from other MMOs in that it all occurs on a single server and skills are trained 24/7 in a time-based queue as opposed to a physical grind. While the game has a notorious learning curve (lessened by many recent improvements to the game), if you hang around for long enough you'll be hooked for life. EVE has a free expansion every 6 weeks (!!!), leading to an interesting, growing game universe.

I'm pretty happy that they're focusing on the spaceship part of EVE. Next up on the rebalancing block is the pirate faction cruisers - devblog here.

I've always liked the idea of the Ashimuu, so that might be fun to try out again. And then there is the new Phantasm, which is rather appropriately being referred to as an "Ahax" because fleets of those things are going to be terrifying.

It's always a good thing to take a break from EVE every once in a while. You'll be back.

So, apparently the POS rebuild isn't happening like I thought? I thought that deployables were slated to, eventually, replace all the functions of POSs in some sorta "buildaPOS" setup. But the lack of a refining deployable and some words say that this isn't true.

Whats up? Whats the new vision for a POS future?

I'm pretty sure redoing the POS interface has been one of the highest things on the players to-do list. I remember CCP mentioning it would be a pretty massive change when it does happen, but didn't share any date. If I remember correctly, there was talk of it needing to be a core feature of an expansion just due to the scope of change it would involve.

I have..uhh...eight alts that can fly gank catalysts. I think I might just buy 50 of the T1 fit version and go to town on everything in sight. It's so nice when you don't have to wait for the 15 minute concord cooldown to go blow somebody up.

When you say it like that, I feel assured that the POS changes might happen before CCP evacuates Iceland due to global warming.

Which, I guess, is what I was looking for. I thought it was a higher, actively solving it as we go kind of priority.

v0v The new CCP is super gun shy of saying anything that looks like it might be a commitment. I can't say that I blame them but it does make discussing future plans with them hard work.

I've said this in other places but if it takes a whole year of focused CCP effort to rebuild POS code from scratch (meaning no expansions for 12 months) I'm pretty sure the players are down with that. Then CCP could work on whatever the hell they want.

The impression I had walking away from FanFest last year (and reinforced with the introduction of deployables) was that they weren't going to rebuild the POS code; they were going to slowly replace it. A bit of deployable functionality here, and bit of functionality there, redoing some POS mods as stand alone items... and eventually the reasons for using a POS would be so few that they'd be niche. And then one patch, they'd turn off the POS code and hope no one noticed. No timeline given, just kind work it as they go. Which I'm cool with.

Faction Battleship changes were just announced:

• The Nightmare is still laser deathmode but can go 800m/s with an afterburner. So, uhh, that's kind of terrifying.
• The Bhaalgorn is still capacitor deathmode but now nos work regardless of your relative cap levels, so it can 26.2 km murderzone things smaller than a battleship.
• The Rattlesnake now uses 2 heavy/sentry drones instead of 5, does an insane amount of damage, has an insane tank, and either increases the chance that I'll fly in a faction BS fleet or get to drop a blap dread on a faction BS fleet.
• The Vindicator remains the sexiest ship in the game, if you ever get it into blaster range (a range bonus means it can't be damped out anymore).
• The Machariel got a warp speed bonus and avoided any nerfs, so I assume the elite pvp crowd is happy.

Is there a TL;DR someone can link me to that gives some clues as to what has happened since Goons were building Fortress Delve? That's the last I was playing and I heard Vile Rat went f-goons and they lost Delve and then I lost touch after that.
