Thumbnail and avatar not displaying animation

Hello, I have a picture that's a gif, but on the thumbnail and in the avatar portion of the message post, it doesn't animate. It just stays on one image. Is this supposed to happen?

    I remember hearing the source image has to be 80x80 for the animation to work, but now that I look at it mine's 64x64 and works fine. Maybe 80's the max?

    I think that with larger profile images, the avatar box isn't the actual image, but the stored, cropped one where you choose the display to be. So if it has to do that cropping, it won't crop the gif.

    Weird thing is, the thumbnail, when I'm in the process of cropping the image, shows the cropped animation (that is, it animates). But when I move off of that page, it doesn't animate anymore.

    Yesss- I cropped it to 80px and it works!
