Well, I'm willing to bet that in actual life he might use it for some sites and not for others. I'm fine with banners on things that I know are supporting an artist I like; what I hate looking at is obtrusive "LETS GO VIRAL" corporate ads on whatever random news site I've landed on or a 30 second ad to watch some random dude's 10 second YouTube video.
The real gem was always Foob. It's even better/more horrifying when you realize that the comic was just a passive-aggressive attack on the author's children by presenting her ideal alternate reality of their lives.

Foob is somehow short for the daily comic strip For Better or Worse by Lynn Johnston. The forum users over at Comics Curmudgeon got so hostile over that strip that Josh stopped making fun of it.
I wish the CC forum was still around. Some of those folks took daily comics strips seriously.

Also, did Josh really stop paying attention to Foob because people were too vicious about it? My feeling at the time was with the reboot, the strip just lost the tang that made it amusing to make fun of. Johnston was doing a still blander version of what she'd done before.
