i take it people are having luck finding other buttoneers? So far I've just run into rampant ,,,,pinniers or pineers...or whatever,

  • zannahzannah Registered User regular
I've had some luck and gotten a few so far - I was a little surprised, because I thought it would be harder with what seems like fewer people this year.

I managed to collect 4 just wandering around at random and dropped one off at the BYOC desk. Was usually really far or in a line when the ButtonRadar went off. Gonna try for more tomorrow. The Juicy Cafe gatherings will be a huge opportunity of course. Hope too see a lot of ya there!

    SOON.

Gonna have to skip tomorrow's juicy cafe meeting but it was awesome seeing a lot of you at today's meeting! Got my bag well covered thanks to all the trading c: Pretty much will be lining up at the Gearbox panel so if you see my black backpack with some of my pins on it, and if I'm carrying my blue crochet bag, just ask about trading and it'll be cool!

Went to byoc and they knew nothing of a button drop off. Probably going to not be in the button collection for g and t again this year.

Also I've made zero trades so far lol.

Yeah, I went to BYOC on Friday to drop my button off and the 2 guys there had no idea what I was talking about. One of them pointed to the right container, but wasn't sure what it was originally for. I've had a little luck with the button radar, though. Hope I can make myself get up in time for the Juicy Cafe meet tomorrow. Missed today's. Why must I love sleep so much!

    SOON.

If we get it together, we will pop by Juicy Cafe again this morning. Yesterday morning was our first time trading buttons and it was a lot of fun. Definitely something we will be doing every year now!

We (@childlikempr3ss and I) were unable to wake up for yesterday morning's trade but should be there tonight.

Thanks to everyone who attended any of the meetups you are all awesome and what a diverse and interesting crowd we make. I hope to see you all again next year. Pics of the vest to be uploaded when i get home i'm only missing 25 buttons off the buttoneering site. fairly successful I think. Safe Travels everyone.

Thanks to everyone for another great year! There were some really great buttons, and fellow Buttoneers remain some of the friendly people I meet at PAX. :)

I never got around to uploading my portal buttons to the buttoneering site. I'll have to check to see if it's possible to still do so.

Had a fun time, as always!

But I was never able to find @Covet which makes the first year I haven't gotten her button button and it makes me SO SAD.

Aahh! I went to yesterday morning's meet up, but had to leave early for the girls' meetup. And I couldn't go today because I got PAX Pox. :(

I have plenty blue buttons left, too! If people are up for mail order buttoneering, I can set it up again this year (for realsies this time). Let's say... I'll set everything up tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.

I got arrived a little late to both morning meetups and must have just missed you. :(

I hope you feel better soon - PAX pox sucks. Totally interested in mail trading if you are up to it. I was bummed!

Thank you to everyone for another fun year of Buttoneering! This year's participation numbers were a little troubling however, and we should try to recruit more people for next year.

I have lots of buttons left, so I'm also up for mail trading if people want. I had fun meeting so many of you, though! :)

It was a smaller group then I expected but I took about 3 handfuls of buttons into the lobby and handed people buttons going "You look like you had a great time at PAX, have a button!" One of my highlights. Also, I love how people found the Italian on the floor.

Although, I feel like I missed a couple of people. I'm down for a mail trade because I love snail mail.

Yeah I went to all the desks on that floor and nobody seemed to know what I was talking about. Never was able to find it.

On a less sour note it was great trading this year! I enjoyed showing up to the final meeting and being told people were looking for the Godzilla button.

That's mostly my fault. First, something big changes this year. I went from sitting behind that desk most of PAX as a BYOC Enforcer to being an attendee wandering around with my kid. So I was no longer there to guide the trading. I also wasn't there to tell the new enforcers about it, so many of them were probably clueless as well. Finally, I forgot to tell everyone not to come by until the end of the day on Friday since the jug wasn't out until then. Lessons learned for next year.

25 is a good number. Don't worry about giving me a list of what you need because those people might not mail theirs in. I take everything I receive and trade for everything. You'll get dupes, but whatever.

It's a way to finish out your buttoneering with people you didn't have the chance to cross paths with. You send me your buttons, I'll trade them for you, and then mail them back. Of course, it's all dependent on those who send them in (aka you can't really ask for specific buttons).

How do you prevent the buttons from being traded with someone we traded with at PAX?

I have about a third of mine left. I'll just use them as a throwback bonus badge for future PAXs.

You don't - so you might get duplicates. :)

Great seeing everyone this year. My The Hood button served me well as a business card too. The Button Scale Armor (vest) was a mite unwieldy, but was great for displaying 10 years of collecting. For future buttoneers, I recommend something similar, as too many folks were unrecognizable as traders! See you in 2015!
