You May Now Resume Watching [TV] Shows About Cops And Other, Worse Shows Not About Cops
I typically don't watch a lot of stuff which is either food- or travel-based, but I've started watching Parts Unknown and holy shit Anthony Bourdain is just the coolest motherfucker
Just past half. Hannibal has aired 6 episodes out of 10.

Man speaking of, I had no idea that Christopher Evan Welch, the actor who played Peter Gregory, had died
that's sad as heck, and i feel like the show already misses what he was bringin'
I'd heard they were going to do another wet hot american summer movie reuniting the cast, so it sounds like maybe the movie deal fell through and Netflix is thinking about doing it.

Hannibal
I love how the finale is just EVERYONE MIGHT BE DEAD
Also, for as much as people had speculated in the past that Bedelia might be in cahoots (this might be overstating it, he did almost kill her earlier this season) with him or that Abigail might be alive, I was still super shocked when those things happened. I also yelled "ARE YOU SERIOUS" when he smelled Will and red hair started appearing
The ticking clock made the entire episode super tense from the word go, and I did spend most of the episode expecting Abigail and Beverly's actors to appear in some capacity, I just thought it'd be hallucinations like Garrett Jacob Hobbs.
If Abigail dies, it's super cruel of them to bring her back and kill her in twenty minutes. She was always a favorite of mine.
And now for a moment, let us slip into a parallel dimension
One where Hannibal was cancelled and that was the ending of the show
Consider that

I thought I read a Fuller interview (can't find the link right now though) where he basically said that ending was written so it could be both a series finale and a season finale, depending on what wound up happening with the renewal negotiations. But it was such a cliffhanger that he hoped it'd be renewed.
Good thing I didn't really want to do anything tonight
Jesus CHRIST, that Hannibal

Bryan Fuller on Hannibal
AVC: Are we supposed to believe that what Beverly saw in Hannibal’s basement that shocked her so much was Abigail?
BF: That was the idea that we had always talked about. Did she see this poor girl down in the basement, and was like, oh my God, he’s been holding her captive like an animal this entire time, and she turns around in a rage of “you monster!”? That was something we had talked about. What exactly did Beverly see? In my mind it was always Abigail Hobbs down there in some way, caught with her hand in the candy jar. That felt like it was the genuine surprise.
Hannibal is a very unique show for me, in that I actively avoid any analysis of it
I'ma do my best to articulate why, but no guarantees as to if I'll succeed or not
The dreamlike (or, more accurately, nightmarelike) quality of it makes the show feel much, much more intimate than anything else on TV. It's not as concerned with moving pieces around the plot chessboard as it is with capturing mental landscapes, transplanting emotion to screen, painting with mood. The show's focus on psychology is apt, because its emphasis of emotional storytelling over logical storytelling kinda turns the whole enterprise into a Rorschach test. The parts that stick with you, the lines that speak to you, are more indicative of your psyche than of the show's plans.
So when I read discussions of Hannibal, read about what people Think It All Means, it starts to feel like people talking about, like, my nightmares. My dreams, my brain. The intimacy the show cultivates makes discussion of the show feel like an intrusion, somehow. Like it's the critic/commenter coming into my head and saying, "Oh, well, here's why you have that feeling," which is unsettling.

Never been a show quite like this one.
It's a very beautiful show, and the most visually interesting of anything on TV right now. Though I have to say that it's almost complete lack of care for logic makes it feel a bit superficial if the emotional beats seem hollow to me (which they have several times this season).
I kind of feel the same way about criticism of any show or movie I truly love, though. Any movie on my top 10 has spoken to me directly in one way or the other.
Anyway, the finale was great.
Will, Alan, and Jack will survive. I'd be very very surprised if they kill any of them off.
I really loved Mads Mikkelsen this episode, more than anything
He sounds hurt about butchering the main cast of the show, but only in that "Why didn't you just go with the flow?" way, like someone who had to go one extra block out of their way because a bad driver cut them off from the turn lane.
I also felt like throwing up a little bit the second time I watched the house scenes, without the benefit of being totally dazed by the rest of the episode. It's like a Greatest Hits edition of "Ways I don't want to die, a lot".

See, I feel the same way, but I sort of embrace the analysis of it and seek it out, because I want to know more about how it accomplishes the things it does and the intent that it had and whether or not it had the same effect on anyone but me
This finale in particular hit me hard, not only because, y'know
everyone is lying in pools of blood at the end and it's super graphic in a way that the show has toyed with before but never fully committed to (Hannibal kills Abigail and there's no cutaways or edits, he just cuts her throat and the shot seems to last an eternity)
But also because of the futility of it
It's one thing for something to come out of nowhere, to surprise you and catch you off guard, it's a whole other thing to see the thing barreling down, to know there's nothing you or anyone can do, and just watch it happen
The last ten minutes of this season are just one long protracted look into the mouth of hell. It was the most explicit the show has ever felt about Hannibal as the devil--he might as well have conjured demonic fire and declared himself Lucifer fucking Morningstar
And you just have to watch unblinking as it all happens and everyone suffers horribly
And that's the roughest part about it, for me at least

Hannibal spoilers from Fuller
Fuller: Oh yeah, it would be huge! It would, it would make a huge impact on the series. Whether or not Jack Crawford survives this night, you know, he has got a shard of glass in his neck, and it's gonna be bad when they pull it out, if he is still alive when the paramedics get there. I think the fun in frustration is, oh my god, basically the main cast, except for the title character, is lying dying, and you won't know until episode 2 of Season 3 who survived. You won't even know in the first episode who survived.
IGN: Because the premiere will be so Hannibal-and-Bedelia centric?

The plan would be to have all the actors return playing younger versions of the same characters despite all being 10 years older

I'm gonna miss that show.
Defiance, another original SyFy show, issue back in June.
The end of the Supernatural finale was pretty whoa.
Also, I am super looking forward to Galavant, but I forget when that's starting.
Finally got the chance to see Eastbound & Down, and after watching the first episode last night, I'll probably spend all weekend watching the rest.
And Parks S5 on DVD finally has a date here - five months later than usual.
Wow, that is really sad. Nice that people are able to enjoy his final performance though. I wonder what their plan is moving forward.
That clock's probably a 3 second audio loop over 80% of the episode

But then I also feel like I don't need to add more things to my already overflowing pop culture backlog.
Though that may just be because I have a serious urge to rub my face against Lee Pace's face.
I try to process that finale and all that comes out is a guttural noise-thought
