Amazon has Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls on sale for $29.98.
That's 2x to 3x more than I think a DLC should cost.
I bought it anyway.
I'm hopeless...
As much as I like to complain about some companies' DLC shenanigans, Blizzard still seems to recall the days where "Expansion Pack" meant something and your money was well spent. Whatever your thoughts on D3 at launch, that expansion plus the recent patches show a lot of care going into that game.
I love FPS games but has there been anything new that breaks to mold of shoot mans in a significant fashion? I don't just mean puzzle but, something where I don't just spew bullets.....I'm asking for gameplay like SWAT4....okay, I'm asking for a successor to SWAT4 where I have the option of not reducing living breathing people to cold soulless meat on the floor.
If you have a PS3, Dust514 does some interesting things with support roles.
As in, "I can be an extremely useful and effective force multiplier and sometimes bring about decisive victories just by making effective use of support-role equipment."
Active scanners to dramatically augment your team's radar coverage, Drop Uplinks to create advantageous spawn locations for your team, Nanohives to keep them armed and armored on the front lines, etc. More importantly, you are rewarded for using support equipment in the same sorts of proportions you would expect to earn for running around shooting things.
Game has some problems, of course.
To qoute a mysterious stranger from the much-neglected Dust514 thread, "I hopped on a couple days ago and tried to play. It is substantially worse than it was six months ago when I stopped playing because it sucked butts. There is a circle of hell reserved just for the devteam. They seem to sense this, and are attempting to make Dust as similar to it as possible." - October, 2013

This; it's totally not "just DLC" and is pretty much everything the game should have been out of the gate. The balancing on classes, the improvement to an astounding degree to loot, including Legendaries actually being such, the addition of Adventure Mode and so on and so on.
If you want to be really cynical about it, you could call it "the fee to dramatically increase the replayablity of the game by removing the AH and losing our cut of that money" DLC :P , but it's a fee I'm happy I paid for.
^ Except that a lot of that stuff was in the BIG FIX-IT PATCH, not part of RoS. RoS adds a class and a new act and, I'm told, about 2-3 hours of gameplay.

Adventure mode, thus bounties and rifts, aren't included in the 2.0 patch for everyone, they're xpack only.
Along with the 10 levels and all the legendaries and such that come with that, they're a major component of the content and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than 2-3 hours of gameplay.
Can you play Diablo with people in different regions yet? A friend in the EU and I finagled things around to play the game after many nights of not lining up and when we finally did...welp. Guess we couldn't play. Did they remove the restriction now that the auction house got nuked? Have some Amazon credit so might buy the Xpac if that's the case.

Not that I know of. You can change the region you're playing in though, although I have never personally tried it.

You just can't take your characters across regions. One of you'll need to create new characters in the other's region, but other than that, it's fine.
I have some HC chars in the Korean server because it launched earlier there :P

Anyone else having weird Steam issues? IsSteamDown and all the other similar sites say Steam is up, but I'm getting this weird Enhanced Steam error saying Steam is down. It's super fishy.
It takes more than 2-3 hours to get through Act 5? I'm honestly dubious, but I'll find out soon I guess.
Act V itself doesn't take terribly long, as you said you should be able to do it in 2-3 hours.
We're just saying that the major portion of content in the xpack isn't necessarily act V, but it's bounties and rifts in adventure mode, which gives you a lot more diversity of content than just playing through the story for the millionth time.
Also, hit up the D3 thread and if there's room in the Clan get an invite, playing with PA'ers is a lot more fun than just dungeon crawling solo.

This really annoys me.
I just want to do dumb loot shenanigans with friends. Having to restart my character because Blizzard decided to treat it like an MMO server wise is really obnoxious.

I'm in a clan already with a bunch of folks I've been playing Diablo games with since around 2003. Can you be in more than one clan (some games allow that)?

No idea!
There is a community too for the PA D3 people, but the only time anyone really uses it is to ask for a clan invite, since most chatting and playing happens in-clan.
But still, add some folks in the PA thread to your buddy list, pretty much everyone there is cool with people joining and such; ask first if you're worried.
I like that this thread sort of doubles as our general PC gaming thread. It just feels right as outside of this thread some PC gamers tend to be decidedly less classy.
I remember someone (I want to say @Pixelated Pixie ) in here saying that they were having trouble playing Watch_Dogs last night after @Big Classy was able to play it on high without min specs. I guess it's an AMD thing on top of just being a shitty port.

Take a look towards Heavy Bullets. While it's not super real like the SWAT FPS or R6, or really anything approaching reality outside of a very dangerous drug binge, it does feature a focus on interesting tactics. Since the game isn't going for any sort of realism it takes an interesting twist. You have a big chunky and totally cute revolver that shoots big fat shiny bullets. You start with only six of these bullets, a full load for your revolver. When you fire the gun the bullet drops where it hits. Most things die in one hit. You have to recover the bullet to reload. Quite a few enemies will rush you. Levels generate with all kinds of tricky, deceptive angles, the level generation is quite clever. So encounters are dynamic and require the kind of quick, decisive shooting and movement that make the action in games like SWAT and Rainbow Six so addictive. And on top of that layer of tactical decision making you have new things running through your mind like when to shoot that thing that's rushing you so you don't have to expose yourself to more danger to recover the round. Add to that the usual things like shops and banks which give the game progression and variety and there's a lot of interesting decision making going on that's gone in most shooters these days.

I think they were both using the same card (a 6950), but Pixie also had an older CPU and less memory.
Watch Dogs has been held up as a visually stunning title that takes full advantage of modern GPU capabilities — and, notably, it makes prominent use of Nvidia’s GameWorks technology. For those of you that haven’t followed the GW saga, GameWorks is a set of proprietary libraries, distributed by Nvidia, used to implement common DirectX 11 functions. Developers that use these libraries cannot share the code with AMD for optimization and, in some cases, cannot see the source code at all. The result has been a competitive landscape that has often been significantly tilted against AMD.

That seems rather shady. Probably technically legal and all (IANAL), but...

Its a processor issue more than a gpu issue. We both have dual cores where the game recommends a quad core processor. I have an i3 which isn't too bad, hence the reason I can run the game alrightish and she can't sadly.

Yeah, I totally agree. The title should reflect the spirit of the thread, not be an outlet for whining...

Wait, how much is that for Eschalon III? I only have #1, and have only ever played the demo of the first, but I already know I want them all.
