Hey folks and welcome to the underground nomsistance!
In case you haven't heard of us, the Cookie Brigade is made up of three awesome groups of people. Our bakers who provide tasty noms for the many attendees of PAX. Our distributors who will show up where they're least expected to distribute noms, and our organizers, who keep our top secret HQ working smoothly.
If you're not already registered on the
Cookie Brigade website please do so ASAP! For past Brigadiers,
click here to join the brigade group for Prime 2014. If you are a first time brigadier please register on our forums and then apply to be a brigadier. Note: You just need an active registration on the forums for access to the application form.
The Cookie Brigade does not sell cookies. We give cookies away for free.
Brigadiers also accept donations to Child's Play, which are entirely voluntary and greatly appreciated!
And it's very convenient to get a cookie and give a donation at the same time.
Starting in 2007, the Cookie Brigade began a mission to give these cookies in exchange for donations to Child's Play, the charity started by Mike and Jerry that provides entertainment to kids in children's hospitals that has recently expanded into domestic violence shelters as well. Since then, we've raised over $115,000 for Child's Play! During our last PAX Prime we raised over $22,300 and we're looking to top that this year!

BASIC BRIGADE GUIDELINES
We give out cookies, we do not sell cookies! We do happily pass donations along to Child's Play, so feel free to give us donations if you want.
Keep it PG and family friendly. We love to give cookies out to kids and as such we ask all brigadiers to remain family friendly with their cookies (sorry no dickerdoodles) and distributing activities!
Have fun and enjoy PAX!

My first year, I brought 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies, handed them out, and was done. A friend of mine just made two trays of rice krispy treats, dropped them off, and went on to just enjoy the con. Every little bit helps.
And if you can't bake or distribute, telling your friends at the con of our existence also helps. Hope to see you there!

You can totally bake beforehand and bring it to the con... in fact, that's what the vast majority of bakers do. If you're only bringing carry-ons, there's a small chance that fudge won't make it through security, but in checked luggage it should do fine if wrapped up! We also have people in Seattle who can recieve packages, if someone wants to make things and mail them, rather than lug them. Check out the cookie brigade site for more specific information about baking/dropping off. Home-made fudge, when packaged well, can be EXTREMELY popular!
We have had some gluten-Free cookies at every pax in the last five years, but not every brigadier remembers to take some with them when they go out (that's our bad). Personally, I try to always have a couple GF, Vegan, and sugar-free options in my bag - unless somebody cleans me out before I can return to the cookie dimension. Lines to Gabe & Tycho related panels, Loading Ready Run panels, and major keynotes are often visited by well-stocked distributors. We also have a twitter presence, so if you're looking for something specific and you're going to be somewhere for a while, tweeting "The Chainsawsuit line needs Gluten Free Cookies! #cookiebrigade #PAXcookies" can sometimes produce results, though they are by no means guaranteed. We have not yet figured out how to be omnipresent.

Specific plans are not in place yet, but we've been doing this every year so I can be fairly certain the answer is yes. I'm trying to get the baking hype going early because East was short on cookies... we cannot allow it to happen again. Not here. Not at this sacred place.

Delicate, geeky cookies are fun but in reality, this is a numbers game. For every 10 gorgeously decorated, painstakingly cut cookies someone donates, they could have made 100 plain ol' chocolate chip. Honestly, most of the attendees just want a quick snack, and though nerdy cookies are super cute, it's actually more useful to bake a shitton of regular cookies. When we bake, we always do a few really cool cookies just for fun and then make hundreds up in rice krispie treats or chocolate chip.
You can mail regular cookies ahead of time just fine; especially if they're thick, round cookies like chocolate chip or oatmeal. Check the CB site for mailing details - The brigade is always happy to accept more cookies!!

I intend to drop more than a few cookies into my belly tonight at the Sheraton.
Secondly, we were really hurting for volunteers this year. We had to have some cookie reinforcements brought in Saturday and Sunday and we had a small number of distributors working VERY hard all through pax. We need more help. If you like what we do, please consider signing up. It doesn't have to be a huge commitment. A dozen cookies or an hour of your pax time will help us. It's also important to note that you don't need to be able to do both. Don't want to give up you pax time? Bake something for us. (we also have local people who accept shipments so you can bake even if you aren't attending a particular pax.) Can't bake? Donate some time to distribute or help or logistics team in hq. And thus ends my recruiting message. For now.... *dun dun dun*
