who the shit thought it was a good idea to end their E3 video with the announcement of Palutena, a character almost no one even recognizes, and quietly release a the Pac-Man announcement late at night

which do you think would get people watching more of their videos? if you stick the niche character in the high-profile trailer, then create a trailer for another character who's more high-profile on their own, you'd get more people actually checking out both trailers than if did it the other way around. plus, doing this reminds people that nintendo still has more to talk about over the rest of E3 and that they didn't already show off everything worth mentioning.
brawl had 39 characters, coutning the trainer's pokemon, shiek/zelda, and samus/zero suit as separate characters
Wii U/3DS is up to 33
and they said near the start that they were planning on having a smaller roster than brawl
so anyone who's not yet confirmed is starting to have some pretty dicey chances of getting in
that list includes
Snake
Trainer (who's almost definitely out since Charizard is a separate character now)
Meta Knight
Falco
Ness
Wolf
Ice Climbers
Ganondorf
Wario
ROB
Captain Falcon
Jigglypuff
Lucas
of those, I'd say Meta Knight, Ganondorf, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon and Ness are all proooobably safe
Jiggs, Falcon and Ness are all from the first game so it would be weird to cut them
Ganondorf is a major zelda character and one of a very small number of "villain" characters in the game
and meta knight is a fan favorite/was created by the game's lead designer
That brings the total to 38
And I bet there's one or two new characters that they're leaving unannounced until after launch, which they did with Wolf and I think someone else last time
So my bet is that Snake, Falco, Wolf, Lucas, Ice Climbers, Wario, and ROB are all outta here
