At first I thought England's group looked decent but I keep forgetting Wales aren't complete shit anymore. That said it's probably still one of the easier groups.
All the more embarrassing when we finish last with a single point from a nil nil vs Slovakia.

There isn't really a thread for it but the handball European Championship finale is on right now and the german goaly is kinda amazing, blocking like two thirds of of the balls coning his way. Like the last one he kicked away with his foot above his head with the other foot still on the ground.

Dude second on the left straight up looks like he is staring into the eyes of the man that just peed down the front of his shirt. Like "Okay, yes, now just pay me what we agreed so I can never speak of this shame again."

Champagne seemed like the best shot at getting actual reforms at FIFA, even if he was part of FIFA during much of the time that's now under investigation, but for the same reason he's seemed like a longshot from day one.
Right now it's down to Gianni Infantino, the Platini proxy who has openly admitted that he's only running because Platini was caught with his hand in the cookie jar and would have stepped down again if Platini's appeals had gone through, and Sheikh Salman from Bahrain, who's candidacy has mostly revolved around refusing to speak with the press and threatening to sue anyone who says anything negative about him or his time as chair of a committee designed to spot Bahrainian athletes protesting the sitting government during the 2011 Arabian Spring, so that those athletes could be put in jail and tortured.
It's weird how a system of bribery and corruption won't reform itself when the voters are the beneficiaries of bribery and corruption.

It's finally happened.
Turned up to preseason training tonight and the guy running the drills was a fresh-faced first-year who had just finished school. Same school as I went to, in fact. I graduated the year before he was born.
I am literally old enough to be a teammate's father. My shinpads have been playing football longer than him.
