Note for traveller's who are flying (particularly Internationally)

Some of the airlines changed the sizes of their luggage allowance this year, including carry on bag sizes and they did it in a most annoying way - by reducing the sizes on a couple of the dimensions by 1 inch... for starts this means that a lot of the old 'approved' carry on bags are actually oversize now (including the new carry on case I bought at last years PAX to bring more stuff back to the UK !)

airlines I know affected are United , Delta (and possibly Air France and Lufthansa) if its a 'partner' flight

I'd thoroughly advise anyone flying to double check luggage sizes as well as weights allowed (although in United's case the weight allowance is the same just not the size)

I guess putting the current size allowed in here might have been an idea ;)

9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches
(22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm)

all my old bags are 15 x 23 x various sizes

Wow, I had no idea about this and I'm flying with Delta. Thanks for the heads up. I just bought a carry-on last year for East so I'll have to check if it fits within the requirements.

Doesn't look like any of the Canadian airlines have changed it into the USA. But Canada <--> USA travel is barely "international" anymore.

There is also the new security measures requiring all electronic devices to be charged and functioning as you board the plane. So just make sure you charge everything up before you leave otherwise they will demand you charge the device and take an alternate flight.

Thanks for the tip. According to this, American Airlines made the same change.

Thanks for pointing this out. We are fly domestically and didn't know about the change.

@creid8‌ , @adias.angel‌ , @shadowscout‌ , there was actually a revision to that article here. They didn't shorten the dimensions by an inch, they kept the linear measurements the same. The author's carry-on wasn't allowed because of an extra inch on one of the dimensions. Essentially, the airlines are now being more strict about their 22x14x9 dimensions (specifically American and United) and won't allow 22x15x8 even though it's 45 inches around (by policy, maybe you can get lucky).
