No sweat. Looks like this source breaks things down between console and PC. Hardware sales are way down as well.
As much as the Valkyrie Profile comparisons intrigued me, the general condenses of it being really shallow and grindy kind of have me pause. For that price though I'll definitely give it a go.
Basically there was a lot of reused...well, everything was reused. Multiple times. The translation is said to be of questionable quality as well. Game tanked pretty hard, not surprising it's on sale so cheaply. I buy almost everything RPG on release but even I skipped over this one. I may grab it to have it now that it's $15 though.
(I hated the character models from day one, which didn't help things either)

Yeah, there's a bunch of good App Store sales up right now. Adventures of Mana, Bastion, Transistor, Knights of the Old Republic, Sproggiwood, and Necrodancer seem notable off the top of my head. I've never used the apps for Splendor, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, or Colt Express, but the original board games are great.

How awful are the port jobs though? Some of the "improvements" to the old sprites on the FF games were... not.
Not awful. They all control well enough on a touch screen and support mifi gamepads. I really like the touch ATB menus in FF6, and I've played about half of Chrono Trigger with minimal difficulty.
FF5 and FF6 have the poorly upscaled sprites. If you can overlook the graphics, they are more or less the definitive editions of their respective games.

From what I can gather, it's AAA games that are starting to go down, but other types of games are generally doing the same as before or better.
It's almost as if AAA game dev has always been untenable and the chickens are coming home to roost, yall.

Like the article said, CoD is way down from last year(and has been getting slammed pretty hard by CoD fans) and you don't have a big title like Fallout.
This Winter is overall pretty light on big name titles as a lot of stuff got pushed back. And too many of what we're left with are shooters all competing for the same space (that being another issue).
That isn't to say AAA dev doesn't have its problems but there are a lot of other factors at play too.

For some of us, that's a big if / ask.
I got Dimensions and I would advise skipping the mobile games unless you have a controller. Getting into extra encounters because guys didn't move the way you expected ruins the fun of a JRPG real fast. And V and VI look like shit, especially if you've been playing FFRK or FFBE.

Well it worked, because that's why I got a 360 instead of a ps3.

That plus the fact that November game sales fell a full 20 percent from last year, even with the addition of digital revenue, is a really worrying sign for the biz as a whole.

As much as the Valkyrie Profile comparisons intrigued me, the general condenses of it being really shallow and grindy kind of have me pause. For that price though I'll definitely give it a go.
(I hated the character models from day one, which didn't help things either)
Yeah, there's a bunch of good App Store sales up right now. Adventures of Mana, Bastion, Transistor, Knights of the Old Republic, Sproggiwood, and Necrodancer seem notable off the top of my head. I've never used the apps for Splendor, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, or Colt Express, but the original board games are great.
How awful are the port jobs though? Some of the "improvements" to the old sprites on the FF games were... not.

Not awful. They all control well enough on a touch screen and support mifi gamepads. I really like the touch ATB menus in FF6, and I've played about half of Chrono Trigger with minimal difficulty.
FF5 and FF6 have the poorly upscaled sprites. If you can overlook the graphics, they are more or less the definitive editions of their respective games.
For some of us, that's a big if / ask.
Not sure if its that simple.
Like the article said, CoD is way down from last year(and has been getting slammed pretty hard by CoD fans) and you don't have a big title like Fallout.
This Winter is overall pretty light on big name titles as a lot of stuff got pushed back. And too many of what we're left with are shooters all competing for the same space (that being another issue).
That isn't to say AAA dev doesn't have its problems but there are a lot of other factors at play too.
As a fan of the Artifex Mundi games, if you've ever been curious about the Hidden Object games as a genre, that bundle's a good place to start. There's some good stuff in there in general.

I got Dimensions and I would advise skipping the mobile games unless you have a controller. Getting into extra encounters because guys didn't move the way you expected ruins the fun of a JRPG real fast. And V and VI look like shit, especially if you've been playing FFRK or FFBE.
