PSA. Every deal except a handful of the featured deals are ending when dailies switch over today. So in just over 6 hours. Could be an encore sale but don't bet on it. So if there is a neat discount on a game and you don't feel like waiting for the winter sale you should buy it soonish.

Okay - 2 things to give away.

1. Does anybody have Hero Academy but not the Gold Pack? I have a code from Humble that _should_ unlock that stuff.
2. Seeing a copy of Defender's Quest raffled off reminding me that I have a GoG key for it. It's not Steam, but DQ is a great game. PM me if you'd like it.

Also, if you like TDs then Kingdom Rush is a game worth your time. I managed to beat the main campaign this morning, and it's challenging and all sorts of fun. Much more active than other tower defense games. I just wish that Ironhide would announce plans to bring the 2 sequels to PC as well. I've got an iPad, but this sort of game, in my opinion, needs a mouse.

Not really, no. There are a number of mods that make a great looking game look even better, without a performance hit. Your best bet is to have a look at the Skyrim thread, but generally anything that enhances textures of items (potions, books, greenery) and light enhancements are a safe bet. There are also texture mods that made Bethesda's HD Texture mod look like refried crap.

Not at all! Even if everything isn't on Max the visual mods will still make a noticeable difference.

Oh man, Sonic Racing Transformed is satisfying nostalgia urges I didn't even realise I had. Golden Axe! Shinobi! House of the Dead! Panzer Dragoon! Burning Rangers!

It does make me a bit sad that nothing's been done with those franchises for so long, though. Others, too - I'd love something like an updated Shining Force.

I finally restarted my The Forest playthrough. Since it has been awhile after my Guillermo Del Toro-inspired nightmare fuel encounter.

Now played a good 5 hours into the game. It really feels something akin to a light mix of both DayZ and survival-Minecraft (minus the spelunking) in terms of fun factor. Which was great!
Made it through 3 days (about an hour a day in-game) without a single enemy encounter, built a log-house, and currently building a parameter to keep baddies at bay.

Then I suddenly, a wild native tribesmen patrol comes near my campsite.
Turns out, I had built my now-swinging pad in front of what appears to be a village straight out of Cannibal Halocaust!
Was it always there? Hmm.... things are now getting interesting. Need to bring my fences up! FAST!

It's going to take hours to download on my rubbish internet. Which is also probably unsuitable for host duties. But another day, hell yeah.

EDIT: So apparently the actual download is 4.2GB. Steam's telling me it'll be done in an hour and fifteen minutes or so. So at that point, I'm in. (Also I grabbed the DLCs while they're on sale because I couldn't say no to an Out Run track or Ryo Hazuki and his arcade machines.)
