PAX East Fancy Dinner 2015 - The Gluttoning

edited February 2015 in Debate and/or Discourse
Who wants to get dressed up in their semi-formalest attire and eat good food with your PAX bros?
You do?

Well, this is the thread for it so strap on your most euphoric fedora and grab your trusty trenchcoat as we sail into the horizon my fellow gentlemen. Today we are no longer boys. We are men. We don't need a concept as silly as religion to guide us, we are enlightened by our own intelligence. We stand tall and strong as the freethinkers of our society, the true rulers of the world in which we live in! And the reins of this world could not have fallen to a more mature bunch, well done comrades. By the way, don't forget to RSVP for the Fancy Dinner/My Little Pony Dance, as places are limited and euphoria is guaranteed. My friend Barnabas has gotten hold of one of his uncle's fine cuban cigars, hopefully I won't have an asthma attack this time.

Pax East Fancy Dinner - March 6 @‌ 8PM
Cost -$70 per person including tax+tip*
Venue: Marliave (same joint as last year)
Bar: Cash
Menu: TBD

-Just wanted to start getting ready for this now. I reached out to the restaurant this morning, and the same room is available. Everything went really smoothly last year, so this is more samey stuff with two exceptions:

-By my math, we positively crushed the minimum last year, so I'd like to leverage that into some sort of deal on house wine or a "signature" batch cocktail. Help and thoughts on this would be most appreciated.

-We live in the future. Let's try and venmo/paypal/google wallet all the cash together beforehand, so we're not counting out close to $3000 in small bills on a full liver.

RSVPs 32 current. 40 max

RSVP! For Beasto too of course.

Deebs I would only edit the cost/person to say [TBD] and that the $70 is based on last year's cost, because prices will likely have changed, and with different amount of people we can't 100% be sure what the estimated cost will be (plus if we get a signature cocktail that may affect things as well).

I talked to the place. It's the same price as last year. The signature cocktail will be an option at the cash bar. I was thinking maybe if we can get them to do a few batches, they can give us something relatively simple for $8 or 9 a drank.

Ok. Just making sure that it's the same price/person and not the same lump sum (because if we have more or less people it will affect the division obvs).

You're definitely the one qualified to make the call on the cocktail!

    It's 55 per person + tax tip.
The room minimum is $2500. I imagine we absolutely crushed that last year. I will reach out to @Organichu and see if we can't learn from his negotiating Judo style.

This is not limited only to people who go to the convention, right? This looks like fun and it falls right into my march break...

Just to clarify, this takes place in Boston right?

Yep Boston! You'll be able to tell it's the right city because it will be full of French Canadian tourists and, for that weekend, nerds.
