Best of luck to you, Professor Snugglesworth.

The sad thing is after coming up with that game design proposal, I immediately wanted it to be a real thing.

If somebody over there looks at it and gets inspired, then great. It must get made!

    preferably by anyone but toriyama

Also thank you. This is literally the first time I've applied for something like this. I'm not sure if I did everything I was supposed to, but I spent a lot of time making it look as good as I could.

But I also had fun doing it, which is kind of serving as a wake-up call that maybe I should be looking more closely in this field of work...

DAMMIT CURTAIN CALL QUIT MAKING ME PLAY FF 12 SONGS

On further listening, the guy's tendency for random musical flourishes and no themes/melodies/consistency was also in Final Fantasy Tactics, but oddly enough the lack of a hundred-piece orchestra makes it less annoying.

In any event I did get an e-mail from Square Enix....telling me they're down to 10,000 units on the Type-0 HD CE.

I keep refreshing Best Buy's page, wondering when I'll be able to pre-order the CE from them. With the GCU membership I can get 20% off that thing.

I finally sent my application to Square Enix regarding their entry level position of Game Designer (FFXV).

I have to admit I started getting pretty nervous at the end there. I know the odds may be highly against me, but after spending a week on the mock design documents I provided, I started to think how much I would love to be offered this position; I've been hesitant with a lot of things in my life when it comes to career choices, but a chance to work on Final Fantasy games is something I would accept yesterday. Plus I ended up having a lot of fun coming up with the design docs, even though I'm fully aware the actual work they would start me with would be much less creative and more tedious (but also give me direct access to that opportunity in the future).

I kind of want to share the design proposal here, but I'm kind of worried that it might hurt my chances; nothing I sent points directly to this forum, but you never know.

Did you include how many full body pillow versions of Tifa you own?

    It can only help.

As a professional game designer, my advice to you regarding the complaints of Chrono Trigger's bugs and glitches is to put the drink down and get your memories in order.

Alternatively, play a version of the game that isn't the PSX release.

There's still a lot about this Square Enix job application that's kept under wraps....which is kind of ironic, given the company.

How many are they looking to hire? Where is the job located? When is the deadline? Should I apply again once that English site goes up?

It sounds like they're rearing up to expand their territories, which is great news for non-Japanese people who always wanted to work on their FF games.

FFXII's music definitely has themes and melodies. The Empire motif is all over the soundtrack.

Fair enough. That's definitely not one of my favorites.

Barheim Passage, Dalmasca Westersand, Stilshrine of Miriam, The Salikawood, Sochen Cave Palace, Jahara, Nalbina Fortress Underground Prison are some of my favorites. They tend to be a little less energetic than the one you linked. I didn't really like Curtain Call's selection of FFXII tracks.

True, maybe Curtain Call just didn't pick well. I don't remember any of the ones you listed in that game.

Seriously though, that track is all over the place.

If it were up to me, FFXII's Curtain Call section would be like 12 Field tracks and 2 Battle tracks.

Selphie doesn't have a single violent thought in her.

She just enjoys the flashiness of explosions and missiles, and tends to convey those thoughts out loud.

This horrendous busy week has prevented me from looking at all your awesome resumes one by one. When I saw it coming, I went “Yay!”. A somewhat short exciting moment before I drag it into the Recruitment folder. I know some of you had inquiries about the recruitment on FB and email and I apologize for the late reply. I will attend to them next week.

It sounds like I sent that e-mail just in the nick of time.

I don't think the bolded questions are unique to SE's hiring process, for the most part.

I am replaying 8 right now...

I had forgotten this completely. Though I did just beat the minotaur bro's with Selphie's slot, rolled Ultima x2. 3k damage, fight instantly over. She loves those explosions.

Abusing Triple Triad and card mod to get third level spells to slot them is funny. Going from 800 hp to a 2k HP with 50 str monster with a flip of a button.

I am now getting a few annoying crashes when using squall's gunblade hrm.

Gunblade crashed so often for me that I stopped using it completely (yet another reason to just NoEnc + GF Summon your way through the entire game). That PC port was truly awful.

EDIT: This was years ago, the Win95 version. The Steam version still has that CTD issue?

Well, it would be nice to have some indication whether they would want you working at, though the "Japanese is a plus" could be a clue...

Or I suppose this would be a position that has you spend several months in one place, a few months in the next. I wouldn't know; this all kind of coincides with Square finally outsourcing their titles beyond their Japanese branch, so it's probably a lot of new policies.

Yeah, the PC port was riddled with problems for a lot of users (one of the reasons it got such an abysmally low score from PC-oriented review outlets of the day such as PC Gamer; it also looked and sounded worse than the PS version for many gamers, even though PCs of the day were capable of much better).

The PC port essentially uses Midi and is the PC port re-released. I'm using a mod to put the original PS soundtrack in the game. The mod should be just bundled with the game and used by default but squeenix.

The PC port with the music mod is really good, except the gunblade crash. Some things did not age well and the game is locked in the standard for the time of 4:3, but triple triad.

Triple Triad is the best minigame ever. I especially like how the rule variations really change how you approach each game. For example the rule that exchanges every flipped card instead of letting you choose one for winning. Now you don't want to sacrifice your good cards to win games and often will draw the round instead.

Or setup a same combo to wipe the board. Or cry in agony when the computer does it to you because you wern't paying attention.

Oh and the CTD issue only started happening once I got to the "disk 2" part of the game, it was totally fine in the "disk 1" part.

I know that you can mod it. To be honest, since I did an achievement run, I didn't do any modding. There are somethings that are off in that FF7 PC port. Climhazzard has weird transparencies. Omnislash sure doesn't sound like it used to. I mean, yeah I'm nitpicking, but perfect port it ain't.

I followed a guide for TT which had the outcome of making every zone open and 1

it was reseting the game hundreds of times in order to get specific "this rule has spread" dialogue boxes after talking to very specific npcs

i also played like 100 hours to get 20 Rosetta stones in d1 prison

Triple Triad is coming to FF14. Won't have to deal with the absurdly-lengthy minigame it came with on the PSX release any longer!

Thank you for your interest in our company.

    We have received your resume.

However we have received too many applications.

So please give us maximum of 4 weeks to get back to you with the results.

Once again, thank you for applying.

Well, at least it wasn't a rejection letter.

I don't know how to feel about this. I'd like to think that it means they'll look at my application seriously instead of just trashing it over "too many applications".

Yeah, that's pretty much what I gained from this.

But again, it's a better response then saying that they wouldn't even look at it due to having too many applications, so I'm hoping my chances aren't diminished because of this, at least from a quantity standpoint.

Well the application did say that they were going to post the job ad in their English site "soon", so that kind of tells me that they'll looking to hire a lot of people, though I have no idea how many they want for their entry-level positions.

At least it wasn't an immediate rejection, I can be satisfied with that much.
