All the sudden: Audio Issues!

BucketmanBucketman Call meSkraggRegistered User regular
Hello forum, today when I came home from work I turned my PC on, but all of the sudden, my headphones are getting a really loud static and all the sound played is distored and muffled. The best way to describe it is that when I use the test feature in WIndows the sound that I actually hear is like the sound of a door closing the Chrono Trigger for the SNES instead of a tone. I've tried both front and back audio ports and its the same thing. Googling around has brought very little info and I've messed with Windows 7's audio options as well as my Realtek drivers and that hasn't fixed anything. I also tried my headphone in my phone and they are working fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A few new enlightenments from playing around: It happens even when there is no sound and everything is muted, its more of a hissing sound and all other sound is muffled. When I have my Mic and Stero Mix enabled they seem to both be picking up sound even when muted. I reduced the noise a little by enabling stero mix but that didn't actually fix the issue.

Ok messed with it some more and updated the drivers, even when I uninstalled my previous drivers and had 0 sound going through I was still getting it, and updating the drivers helped a little but its still happening. So now I'm wondering if its just Electronic Interferience from something...or maybe my new Wireless keyboard is somehow interfering? How would I even check that

Edit: Now I have no clue whats happening, I unplugged everything and moved it around in the usb ports and now it ONLY happens when sound is playing as opposed to all the time like before

Hmm. Have you gone back to how everything was when it originally worked properly? No wireless keyboard or any other recent changes to hardware or settings?

I haven't Completely reverted becausE I need the keyboard, but I truth unplugging it and the mouse to no avail, though I did move their dongles to the other side of the computer and that seemed to hep a little bit
