"It is an excuse to be the losers these animals truly are. It is a tipping point to frustration built up over years of not trying, but blaming everyone else, The Man, for their failures. Religious Freedom Restoration Acts were created in response to Scalia's opinion that religious practices should generally not trump state laws (for fear of the obvious anarchy that would follow if religions could carve out large exemptions to secular law) - federal RFRA was a shield for minority religions to practice as they saw fit, unless the state could prove a compelling state interest and that their method of enforcing this compelling state interest was the least burdensome way possible, with state RFRAs generally furthering the notion to include for-profit corps post-hobby lobby

Originally, the concept was supposed to be a shield, protecting minority individuals from unjust intrusions etc etc. Once given to a giant majority religion, however, one can easily see how it turns into a sword that precludes justice from those who would be negatively affected by the beliefs of that majority religion, particularly if those who would be negatively affected are neither a protected class nor loved by the majority

There is a dark, dark comedy in changing the religion in "religious freedom" from native american beliefs to christianity

so shooting was real fun. that gen4 glock 19 sure is nice. kind of makes me want one, but i am a long way from having 500 bux to throw at a toy. also got to fire a couple ar-15s and a tavor that was nicely spec'd (up to ~$4,000). good time.

also doctor went well. won't get my blood test results for a few days but showed my bp and bg logs, doctor was mouth-agape impressed. told me he's fine cutting my metformin in half and pending my a1c results, 'we'll see about further'. did a cardiac stress test which also went well. he is thrilled with every data point we saw so far.

what if we just abolish any relevance of religion to our legal system?

    i mean

it's not going to be like, oh hey no more religion, now no one discriminates

but at least they'll have to have a rational explanation for their exemption from the law i guess

the dumbest thing I have ever done politically was vote for Nader in the 2000 election.

I can only plead that I was a stupid college student who made a terrible mistake

luckily my state went the right way (Gore) so my idiocy was cancelled out but still I think us Nader voters are even worse than the Bush voters in 2000.
