    I ordered duck in Finland and they asked me how I wanted it cooked. I was so confused. I had to ask the waiter what the right answer was. (It was medium, which was weird for a bird but I ate it, it was good, no illness.)

    It was an Applebee's
    They do not use beef of a quality where this would not matter.
    I looked like something out of a horror movie.
    My waitress almost fainted and I politely asked for something else.

    Every time I've been asked how well I want my burger cooked I've said 'as rare as you're comfortable'. Dozens of times now, never got sick. If the 100th time gives me food poisoning it will have been worth it.

    In china I order meat only well done and everything comes to the table lethally hot and I still get food poisoning. It's pretty much astonishing.
