Round One: Gorilla Grodd vs. Sinestro
ROUND ONE, DAY TWO
Location
The Idol Stage
Backgound
American Idol was, at one point, the biggest thing in television. Each finale was a massive event. In 2005, Carrie Underwood beat out some dude to become the fourth American Idol, and moved on to one of the most successful post-Idol careers of anyone who appeared on the show.
Your Prompt
Sinestro. Gorilla Grodd. Who will be
your American Idol? What will they sing? Remember, they get three songs to sing in the finale: They choose one, the judges choose another, and the third...is their first single! Are you guys excited?

Grodd then proceeded to hypnotize the audience and judges with his mighty mental powers, (And bombastic cover of "Wanna Be Like You") thus handily winning American Idol and securing a lucrative recording contract. He's currently touring Europe to promote his new album ALL HAIL GRODD
Winner: Grodd
Grodd wins.
Sinestro was first up with Billy Joel's Great Wall of China. He'd sung it before and it killed. This time? Not a peep from the crowd or the judges. Strange.
It was Sinestro's turn again, but he couldn't actually recall Grodd singing anything. Must be the nerves. "Hold it together," he thought. This time he was singing the judges' choice, Coldplay's Yellow. He inwardly groaned at such an obvious surface level choice. Nonetheless, he gave it his best and, while he'd sung better, he knew he'd done an excellent job. Once again he was greeted by silence. What is this? How dare they ignore him?
Sinestro was up once again for his final song. This isn't right. Something's wrong. He was positive this time; Grodd hadn't stepped on the stage. "He'll pay after I've won this contest," swore Sinestro. He sang a haunting acoustic version of Fear of the Dark by Iron Maiden. He'd never sung better and knew he'd won.
Sinestro's triumphant smile faltered slightly when Grodd lumbered onto the stage for the first time that night (it was the first, right?). He couldn't say how, but he knew Grodd was singing something original. The arrogance! Grodd stood there for about a minute before speaking two simple words. Sinestro found himself repeating them along with the audience.
"Praise Grodd."
