Prime 2015 [hotel] partners and other hotel discussion
What is the likely hood of Sheraton having more availability before Pax? The reason I ask is because I have a 4 person room, and a 2 person room booked, but everyone has to check out Sunday morning... Which I really don't want to have to do.
Should I cross my fingers and keep checking? or should I just look for other places?
Cheers!

For the sake of making sure you and your group have a place to sleep; you probably shouldn't bank on the Sheraton having more rooms open up. You might want to start looking into alternative accommodations.
Just switched my reservation to the Grand Hyatt from the Hyatt at Olive 8. This was the hotel I was originally shooting for when badges went on sale. Never thought I'd be able to be this picky about hotels again, but I'm glad it opened up!

Well, look around...it's not like you can't cancel a booking if, by some miracle, more Sheraton rooms open up.
Keep in mind, most of the hotels are all in spitting distance of the con- they might not be right next door, but a 4-block walk isn't huge.
And it'll be worth every penny. Those soaking tubs and some scotch will take the edge off of each day nicely.
Yeah, my girl and I have upgraded to the suite the last two years, and after a day of walking the tubs are a godsend.
Speaking of divine intervention, they just put some rooms up, so we've got ours for the weekend! (Now to find passes)
Bah, I suppose I'll look into alternative places to stay as well.
Last year there was just my partner, a friend, and myself that went, we stayed at a place from AirBnB. It was however a little bit of a distance and I found that it shorted us a little on being involved in the end of day activities, some of which were at the hotels. So like everyone else, I attempted to get rooms at Sheraton, almost got the full weekend booked for my group, but it's killing me seeing that one night unavailable... GRAH! So close! I'll wait for my partner to come back from his vacation before fussing with alternative accommodations.
Last year I was able to grab a double queen room at The Sheraton for four nights shortly before Prime. Last year about three weeks before Prime there were many hotel offerings available that did not disappear right away, and were actually available for most of the week leading up to the two week cutoff. I would have to agree with another person's comment that this is probably due to the Exhibitor rooms being released to the Attendees. Although I am sure that regular people scrambling to change their plans also helps with rooms becoming available. This year I have a double queen room with a Sunday checkout at The Sheraton, and I have every confidence that I will be able extend my stay to Monday. Although perhaps not as soon as I would like, I mean another two months of waiting is not relaxing.
Managed to get Saturday night at the Roosevelt! Still looking out for the elusive Thursday night, though. If anyone's willing to trade, I've got the Motif Seattle as my backup right now (2 bed) and I'm looking for a Thursday night single King bed at the Roosevelt!
The Sheraton still has Thurs-Wed available. Although there is something odd. If you look at the room type, each type is listed twice. And the listings have different allocations. Same prices.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm curious as to the difference between a triple occupancy room with two beds and a double occupancy room with two beds. There's a $20 price difference but outside of that is there really a difference? Couldn't I book a double occupancy room with two beds for three people and get the same thing as a triple occupancy room?

With the double vs. triple, it might be a larger room, but it's probably the fee hotels charge for having a third. But I'm talking about how the system lists "single occupancy 1 bed", twice at the same price and different allocations. Most if not all of the categories are the same way.

Upon looking at the allocations again. I'm sure there is no difference between the "double 2 beds" and "triple 2 beds". Except price of course. This is only at the Sheraton, but it's probably true most places anyway.
OnPeak's desktop website, has different availability than their mobile site? The mobile site had an availability for a Sheraton 2 bed on Sunday night, but it wasn't available on the desktop site. I called OnPeak and was able to extend my stay, however my email looked strange. So I called again, and they let me know that they had to pull the room from a different inventory ... oh ... ok? *shrug* They told me when I check-in that I just let Sheraton know I have two different check-in dates and that Sheraton will make sure I stay in the same room the whole time. So to all of you who are still lurking around OnPeak, check both the mobile site, and the desktop site. And call them with any questions, because they have great customer service.
Unless you get some sort of suite, the general rule of thumb for a hotel is that a 2-bed room will have the 2 beds next to one another.
Ya, that is what I figured but had to check.I don't stay in 4star hotels, so I don't know what they are like.I do know of motels in other places that have separate bedroom and I had hoped there was something near WSCC.
suites run more then $300 a night, correct?
I'm trying to help my friend, his wife and their kid save some on a room and thought if I dropped my hotel Seattle room then shared a room with them it would save some but I'm sure they would want separate sleeping areas. It sucks I didn't reserve 2 rooms back when I got mine
Suites are...expensive. I just did a quick check on the Sheraton website. For the downtown Sheraton in Seattle, a 1 bedroom suite is 600 a night.
Keep in mind that the on[peak prices for the con hotels are substantially reduced, in my experience.
Thank you for all the info
Homewood Suites actually have the sleeping area separate (although I think even the 2 bed rooms still have the beds in the same area). This allowed us to have a third person sleep in the living room on the sofa bed.
Unfortunately, none of the rooms look like they're available there at this time. I would advise to keep checking often though, the availabilities change pretty frequently.

The 'standard' suite at the Homewood (600 sq ft IIRC) has a separate bedroom, yes, but the only entrance to the bog is via said room.
The big suites (800 sq ft) has two entrances to said facilities, one from the 'living room' area and a slider from the bedroom. At least, the corner one I was in last year was like that.
I've not seen the studio style rooms that are supposed to exist there, but from what I've read, they are like your typical hotel room (everything in one big room), just with a small kitchen area.
If Homewood Suites doesn't open up, there are a couple of alternative options. As far as OnPeak hotels, Springhill Suites sometimes pops up, and that will give you a little bit of a divider. It's further away, but walkable.
Last year, we ended up at the Hampton Inn by the Space Needle. It was around ~300 a night, but it had a separate bedroom with a sofabed in the living room. You could easily fit a rollaway in there too if you needed more beds. It was a nice place to stay with free breakfast, but you'll need to take the monorail every day to get to PAX. It's doable, the monorail only takes a few minutes and it goes to Westlake. But it definitely takes more time every day and it will be more walking. But it can work in a pinch.
However, you may also want to look into AirBnB, filter for entire apartments. I looked into these recently and some of these would be great for your situation. Plenty of room for a mixed party + kids, close by and cheaper than some of the suites. Definitely take a look.

The bathroom entrances are not actually consistent across similar sized suites. They vary with the shape of the suite, regardless of the size.

Still crossing my fingers that Sunday to Tuesday at the Sheraton become available again by some miracle.
I have a quad partly book for my group, and my partner and I were going to do a twin room.. but we are now wondering if anyone that has availability for a couple in a quad room share at the Sheraton. I did the calculations and I am disheartened to discover that we otherwise will being paying just a little over twice the amount of my friends.
I know most folks suggest the Sheraton as the number one PAX hotel but I was curious if anyone could give me some insight to how busy and noisy it gets during the convention?
Location wise it's perfect, but I worry since it's going to be PAX-ed to the brim with people that there might be issues with elevator access, noise, etc. Any info from convention vets in this regard would be much appreciated!

I was on the Sheraton 5th floor in 2013 and really had no problems. Getting in and out of the lobby was never an issue. The noise never kept me up (but I'm a sound sleeper). I didn't see any real elevator problems either, but I'm sure there were times where it got packed. The lobby cafe could get kind of busy, but even that was never killer(and you have many nearby options).
Pro tip: if you are on a low floor at a busy time, you may find it very hard to get a down elevator. This is because the elevator hits its weight limit and then goes express to the lobby. So tell the elevator you want to go up then ride it up and then back down.
Crossing my fingers something opens up for the 28th & 29th at the Grand Hyatt, Motif, Sheraton, or Paramount... Looks like I'll have to check the hotel page every day x_x
The Paramount's a nice hotel, dude....and smidge closer!
The Homewood works better for me and my friends for medical reasons that include an actual fridge rather than a minifridge. Distance isn't really an issue for us either.

Point. I still have an East mindset where proximity is a HUGE factor.
Got an email that I had double booked, so I'll be dropping a Aug 25-31 double bed at the Crown Plaza in the next few minutes - the rate is $171/nt + tax. and its gone.

Thanks a lot, man! I managed to switch my room to the sheraton too.
BTW I canceled my Roosevelt reservation in case anybody needs it.

Hey Karick, have you released the Roosevelt? I've been looking for a Thursday night King bed, or a double room for all four days.
