Youtube embedding parser links website parts of the site as videos

It looks like the embedding logic for YouTube videos only looks as far as the domain name.
Linking to a channel page in a post led to a broken video embed, even though the link clearly had /channel/ in the URL.
Example:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCByqwIRtr7HMQdor5t758zA
(above is in URL tags to make it more visible)
It looks like adding the forward slash at the end of youtube.com is the trigger.
