Finished the Dungeon World Season. I'm excited about Friends at the Table's upcoming MechNoir campaign. I love mechs. I love noir. A universe with those concepts sounds amazing.
They put out an audio teaser and fans went ahead and made an awesome video trailer out of it.
For Dungeon World, the first episode was them fleshing out a universe and getting adorably excited about it. As someone who finds DMing daunting, I found it really rewarding despite the early audio issues.
Caught up on VinnyVania. Christ on a Cracker is Castlevania 2 a weird ass piece of software. Like, some of the stuff it does is super cool on paper, but is just buried beneath such a level of obtuse nonsense that it becomes a game I never want to play. Watching someone else play it was pretty great though.
Castlevania 2, much like Zelda 2, has a bunch of really interesting ideas that were probably ahead of its time and not particularly well executed. I'm glad they exist, but they're not particularly fun to play. Also Castlevania 2 gave us possibly the best piece of music from that entire era of gaming, so I can't get too mad at it.
I'm around episode 4, and the RPPR guys having pretty fantastic audio and pacing makes me wonder how long until things get slick for this show
Never heard of this one, but is the google result of Role-Playing Public Radio correct? Might give it a try after some more Friends Around the Table, which in these early episodes has audio issues that really irk me.

Yeah, that's correct (although you'll want to check out their Actual Play feed if you want to hear games being played). Their audio quality is generally pretty ok, although sometimes ambient noise creeps in there. You might also want to check out One Shot (which is usually pretty funny and features a variety of independent tabletop games) and Campaign (which features some of the same folks as One Shot and is centered around Star Wars hijinx). They're both well-produced and I recommend them highly! One Shot recently did a crossover episode with the Sailor Business folks if you're into that.
We've heard rumblings for a couple years about how the sequel to the adorable kids movie Babe was actually an amazing, dark movie. And what we heard was right. It's... it's bananas.
Comic Book author Matt Fraction joins us to discuss the ins and outs of this kids movie that's not really for kids and all its deep implications.

if you're talking about barkerville, that track was actually in the first castlevania

it just wasn't featured as prominently
I had to look that reference up, but no, Bloody Tears was not present in the original Castlevania.

I don't know where you're hearing the same song there, those are two completely different songs.
its the intro to bloody tears, just without the 'barkerville' part
It's actually a modification of Vampire Killer (which factors into a lot of future music for the franchise). Also "it's the same intro (which it really isn't) without the melody" is like saying every song with the Pachelbel's Canon chord progression is the same song.
Edit: Also, re: Wily 2-1, yeah, that's the primary reason I said "possibly". Declaring one as better depends on the day for me.
Also speaking of Castlevania music, Castlevania Legends, a (now non-canonical) mediocre Game Boy game featuring the only playable female Belmont has the coolest Bloody Tears remix.

the frankenstein music and the intro to bloody tears are obviously similar, but ya can't call em the same
the melody isn't the same and the bassline isn't the same, the melody in frankenstein is more of a halftime arpeggiated thing with the melody moving with the chord changes/downbeat, the bloody tears intro has more of a doubletime feel to anticipate the rest of the song, with the movement in the melody coming every other note (and always pulling off to the same note)
