Those changes mostly sound like a load of shit to me.

Some of the Scout changes are just dumb. No one is going to use Bonk! or the Atomizer if they are changed like that. Who is telling them Bonk! is overpowered? Are they high? The crit-a-cola change is just seems confusing to play with and against.

Also I want to know how much money Flippy is paying them to make those Darwin Danger shield changes happen.

Man Tread change will not matter to 99% of the population, and the other 1% who are super good with the Market Gardener are rock hard.

Heavy Glove changes are basically just them listening to the 6v6 community telling them something is bad again.
"Specialist classes should be specialist" they say, while building the ruleset and map rotation for their format specifically to fuck over specialist classes.

That Vita Saw change is neat on paper, but in practice if you're going to use a weapon that you have to hit people with to have an effect you're gonna take the Ubersaw, right? Four hits to save 60% of an Uber vs four hits to just HAVE an Uber isn't much of a competition I think.

Panic attack change sounds fun though. And more Dead Wringer nerfs are always appreciated.

oh god yeah I didn't think of that, the ubersaw completely negates the existence of that hypothetically changed vitasaw

The Heavy minigun changes are good. That's basically how it should have worked to begin with.

Also can anyone help me read the Engineer changes? I keep refreshing the page but all I see is this gif

no changes to the Pyro were needed, because the Pyro is the most balanced and playable class in the game, especially now that there are even more ways to completely negate afterburn

I guess it might depend on whether this update is coming before or after (or with) the upcoming Pyro rework & class update. Like, if everything about the Pyro is going to change anyway...

Eh, it's not like the Rescue Ranger was in a balanced state. It felt a little weird when I'd have no metal and just kept firing bolts into sentries over and over; it's already so powerful in how it gives your heal range and lets you do dumb ninjaneer stuff, that it also bypassed the resources system the class is built around is strange.

Bonk change: If they're listening to e-mails, I can totally believe people who play this game without any semblance of knowing about the larger community would complain about how being invulnerable is broken af. I'd think a very large portion of TF2's playerbase is still kids who just can't afford many games, and we all know how good they are at game design; it's their feedback that changes like that would be based on.

They mentioned right at the top that entire classes aren't being shown yet because they're still heavily working on them. You know, like that Pyro update thing they were talking about :P

Crit-a-cola change is certainly weird, but it's always been a weird weapon and I'm doubtful they'll ever find a good place for it. Sandman change is interesting, the disarm was super powerful against heavies particularly which I liked, but just a slow might still be worthwhile. A little disappointed at the guillotine change though, that combo was fun.
Also I just remembered that I think Turtleant said they were trying to send me a gift but it was failing? If I'm remembering that right that's very generous and unexpected and we should probably see if we can sort that out at some point, it wasn't that long ago I did the two-factor authentication thingy so my account might still have some sort of hold on it

Let me know when you're on steam Goat and I'll try to just trade it to you.

Regarding the Rescue Ranger, I absolutely agree that it is to good. BUT, I also think that its the only thing keeping defensive engineer viable in a whole lot of situations, especially if you are the only engi on the team.

There push to make engineer more mobile and less attached to one building is a good sentiment, but they miss the fact that having to build a new sentry constantly is fucking boring.

no they did change the pyro by reimagining the darwin's danger shield as instead of giving a health bonus, just making snipers immune to fire, because

Pyro update will just be taking all the weapons away from pyro.

Pyro can walk and jump and that's it and that's balanced.

It is rather weird they haven't changed crates to work like they do in DOTA 2.

I have to imagine it probably has something to do with keys being a currency in the TF2 trading scene.

I've never given a single shit about the artsyle though. Give me all the stupid hats.

So we're having trouble uploading the new overgrown to honc, you guys opposed to playing on my server instead? It's not quite as fully featured as honc, but I've got all the stock maps and basically every custom map ever made on it. (I share a DL server with tf2maps)

I told a bunch of people we'd be testing it tonight. Whoops.

I tend to agree about the sanctity of the art style but I'm getting to the point where I enjoy listening to people dump on Valve for just about anything

to be fair to that one heavy, crouch jumping is super not intuitive to a new player of source engine games

I agree with some of the points in this video. Mostly about weapon balance, and the problem with engi getting exponentially more powerful as you add more to the team.

But Dane's desire to make the engi into a much more mobile support class just isn't a great idea IMO. And while I understand why, I think said desire is coming from wanting to make engi viable in 6v6, and that's a lost cause.

I get that folks want to play their favorite class in competitive modes, but unfortunately when said mode is connected at the hip to the map types your favorite class isn't great on, you're kind of out of luck, and bending over backwards to try and make that work is a disservice to anyone who doesn't play that mode.

The idea that any class shouldn't be as good at defending as any other class is at attacking is also a VERY BAD IDEA in any game mode with dedicated attack and defense teams. I.E. everything that's not 5cp and KotH.

The things I enjoy about playing engineer are learning maps, learning the best sentry spots, knowing when it's safe to push my building forward and when I need to fall back. I like being the anchor for the team.

I don't want to see those things become less important. If I wanted to rumble up close with people I'd play scout. If I wanted to follow people around and heal them I'd play medic.

So during the last Overgrown playtest I found a pretty good sneaky spot that everyone kept running by me at. I was dying laughing because like 5-6 people went by me.

    Pear found me, though.

is there even a loading screen tip about crouch jumping? I feel like the only time they ever mentioned it was probably in the manual for Half Life 1 or something

    I don't think so.

It's just one of those things a lot of old school PC games expect people to know.

The first time I ever encountered it was about halfway through HL1. There were some crates blocking a doorway and I was stuck on it for probably a good 30 minutes.

So yeah, it's been a crazy few weeks. I'm up to something like 115 hours spent mapping or play testing in the last two weeks. On top of a good 80-85 hours of my regular job. I'm so exhausted.

My partner Pear had been pulling all nighters while I slept/ went to work, and then I'd get out and he'd go to bed. The map has practically non stop been worked on for the past week straight, at least. Super proud of it.

plr_bananabay_b5 https://tf2maps.net/downloads/banana-bay.4157/ (old 72hr plr map with a smash-the-cart-via-train finale mechanic like Cactus Canyon)
    pl_enclosure_rc9 https://tf2maps.net/downloads/enclosure.2736/ (Jurrasic park-ish payload map)
    cp_mossrock_rc4 https://tf2maps.net/downloads/mossrock.4171/ (reskin of Keikoku/ Whiterock)
koth_lazarus_rc3 https://tf2maps.net/downloads/lazarus.2855/ (REALLY good looking, plays decent, too)
