But I don't know the full details so I won't even bother attempting to explain it

There is some caution to be had though, so if you don't need your pins in the bag yet, might be worth holding off.

I will probably sew a soft cloth over the pleather pages, as those seem to be the problem? No guarantees though.

Mine didn't erase all eyes, but Levin's hobby pin in the upper left corner of my bag has some erasure. I'm definitely going to sew some fabric over the pleather - apparently when pressure is applied it sticks to the raised paint on the pins and can take it right off. :<

Those were mine! They were unfortunate victims during the flight to Seattle.

Though, their story has a happy ending. Someone traded for them, and had an excellent idea. (and I know you're here, but I don't remember your name!)

I believe it was Gavin at the trading table that did this...

That was me! I'll try to set up and post all the various ones I ended up getting "fixed" in a separate thread. But from the sounds of it, Gavin (and others) want to keep this activity of "fixing" pins going!

Well I'm still airing mine out right now. I might use one of my trade pins to test it because at the moment I wouldn't trust it with any pins, based on these reports.

I can't recommend those bags at all. My zipper busted after a single day... which is quite the shame after I had to pay some ridiculous amount for shipping last month.

So is there an amount of time you need to air them out for? Because I think I've aired out the "sticky" side of each flap for about 8+ hours now over this week. And I didn't have any issue at PAX but I may have been lucky.

PS Is the reason they are "Sold Out" because they sold all the stock or because...?

Mine still stinks like crazy, but all of the pins are fine. I don't know if I got lucky, or if the ones that had for sale at PAX were somehow fixed from the original batch (I bought mine on Friday at merch)

Hey everyone - I talked to Brian about this issue on Friday, and we're in talks with the manufacturer about it. Please know that any pin that's impacted by this we will replace free of charge. Sorry about the massive inconvenience on this - we're still a bit befuddled at what exactly is going on, but I promise we'll get you all taken care of.

@gacbmmml That definitely shouldn't be happening! Please let us know and we can either replace or refund ASAP.

Just checked in on mine that I didn't air out and has held pins on it for over a few weeks. No scratches, no Indiana Jones melty eye business. Haven't moved it too much though so some kinetic friction/ rubbing might be helping the issue at hand here.

Apparently you just have to air the pages out. Unzip it and fan them out somewhere for a few days.

I've kept my pin bag unzipped the whole time since I heard of the problems. Currently no defected pins. Seems to do the trick.
